You can't be serious. All the teams that went deep at PGF last year were VERY good teams.

In GA, AL, IN, TX, and to some extent FL, it's easier to assemble top-level talent than it is in northern or southern CA. Look at best the teams coming out of those states. They are a lot less watered down at the top than we are out here, which allows non-CA teams to be quite competitive at the biggest national tournaments.

I have to agree with noncrazy, the teams outside of Cali get the best players in the state to play together and have one or two competitive teams at best...they would have to come to Cali to play...we have more team to compete against!! so Cal is softball meca...just saying

This isn't a slight on California, but a recognition that some teams may want to stay on their side of the Mississippi and play themselves. They have already proven they can hang with SoCal. That leaves the other teams with a decision. Play where the best teams are, or play in SoCal? Location will dictate the decision. You're saying SoCal is the Mecca whereas I'm saying teams may not find the Mecca desirable to play for. Does that make more sense?

@blue1956 yes/no. The size of GA (population wise) about the same as Los Angeles County. So to say you're on an All State team in Ga is not much different than a kid who lives in Bakersfield and plays for a team based in LA somewhere. That still isn't the point. The point is simple. If the #1 team lives on the East Coast. The #2 team lives on the East Coast. The #9 team lives on the East Cost. A #5 Team lives on the East Coast...why leave the East Coast? Make people travel to you! Isn't that how Premier started?

if you build it they will come...and the other argument not all the best players in LA/ OC play on the same team it is very spread out that's why so Cal has more competitive teams, and your other point about them staying close to home and playing each other is a very good point...but even those teams don't want to play in the terrible heat and humidity that's why those teams will continue to make the trip to so Cal, and who knows national tournaments in the future might move aside to bigger showcases/invitationals teams might want to save money and just go to Colorado, Florida, Georgia, so California! !! just saying

You could take the top five Texas teams, Ga teams, FL teams and make a super team as well. There were three or four Georgia teams in the top 10 alone.

It makes more sense to consider PGF as an option for those teams, but not the only one whereas us in California kind of consider it the only option.

thats for sure one thing i would have to say mid west teams hit better, but lack in pitching and def. IMO So last year 14u PGF WINNER was a 97 team not from cali who are the 98 teams to look out for any thoughts?

Too early to tell. If I had to pick a winner now I'd put money on Mizuno Campbell. As I see more I may change my opinion.

The Birmingham Thunderbolts 97 team is going to play the Team NJ Showcase up in New Jersey at the end of June and then they're flying from there to Colorado for the Independence, July 3-7. After that, they're in Chicago for the DeMarini Showcase July 10-14, then they'll get a few days at home before heading out to Huntington Beach for the PGF Nationals. They're essentially going to be traveling for the entire month of July.

That team has put together a lot of talent from a very large geographical range and they've got the reputation that has many families willing to do whatever it takes.

Speaking of NOR CAL Mecca…Sorry Blue….. just busting your balls!!

This weekend we got FC Friendly with many of the 14’s heavy hitters playing this weekend. Sunday with be the showdown of PGF berths FC, Sorcerer, Ddoggs and Shockers all playing in a friendly power pool….6/22 BREEZE98 PULLED OUT!!!!

Reminds me of the good old days of Team Unity friendly when all the top teams played each other multiple times per year and you couldn’t hide…affordable and great competition before your end of summer run at Nationals, PGF or TCS…. We need more of these…

Next week PGF Nor Cal qual will have many of the Nor Cal 14’s playing for 1 of 3 berths…. Some great match ups next week for sure!!!!

Summer.....6/21/13.....Step Up or Step Out weekend....Will be some rankings movement after this weekend....Some questions will be answered too....Good Luck to all!!!!

#1. FC98 Nor Cal = Stud players and coach.. Team is hands down the #1 Nor Cal 14’s team. . Great DEF and BIG Bats and Stud #1 pitcher. Playing 16's & Showcases all summer......Good showing this season at MDC 16’s and 3-1-1 Zoom into June. Close games vs. KG, TC99 and breeze98, but only loss to Grapes–Krug Nor Cal team this year….Team gearing up for a deep run at PGF..Good Luck!!

#2T. Breeze98 = Always loaded with talent and DM is guiding them for PGF Berth...Some player movement but landed another top pitcher. Very good team all around and will play anyone. Playing 16's and showcases this Summer. ASA MDC 16’s CHAMPIONS... 3-1-1 Zoom into June…Top Nor Cal team playing to win a PGF berth next weekend. This team is the real deal and could make a deep run at PGF when they get in…Keep up the good work.

#2T. Sorcerer = Added new coaches and handful of new players since last summer team…. Team is loaded with the top Nor Cal 99’s and will dominate most teams for the next 2 years in 14’s. Very fundamentally sound team with great def and Stud #1 pitcher and top small ball team. Pitching depth and Big bats will need to be there for So Cal and PGF run this season…..3-2 Zoom into June 16’s and ASA Metros 3rd place 16’s…Team has invite to PGF and looking like they will represent Nor Call well this year…. Good Luck!!

#4. Grapes-Krug = Very good coaching with stud Vasquez and DM players on this team from last yr. Playing 16's and competing all fall. Not sure what upgrades or player added, but looking forward to seeing them get better….ASA MDC 7-1 16’s Beat FC and DDogs, Good showing Zoom into June, June classic 16’s Silver 2nd place…Making that trip to Oregon PGF this weekend….Team has a great chance to win a birth this weekend and good luck!!!

#5. Dirt Dogs: These guys are always scrappy and always come to compete. Very good pitching and dangerous hitters make this team always a threat. Solid coaching and big strong players…Good showing MCD-loss to Grapes-Krug, LV 3-2 6th place, So cal PGF birth gets them a boost in rankings. Will need to beat top team to move up….CONGRATS and good luck at PGF!!!

#6. AASA-Harrison = Stud coaching, strong core in place for a real run at a PGF berth this summer. (3) #1 pitchers, good hitting team with solid player depth. Team will need to follow up last winning fall with consistency and beat top seams this summer… So-so start to the summer… June Class 16’s 2nd place, Good showing at Surf City and stinky PGF So Cal qual… Team still has 1 more chance at PGF Nor Cal or it will be TCS showing this year…Good luck!!

#7. KG Hitters = Rebuilding is pretty much done and fast. Team has been winning this Spring and Summer. Strong 99’s in place with a STUD 98 baller leading the way. They have also added some proven 98s to the roster. Team will compete with most, but pitching depth and bats will have to show up. Stud coaching will keep them competitive…ASA MDC 5-1 and beat Sorcerer playing 16’s…16’s RR Gold Champions…Team playing for a Nor Cal PGF birth this weekend and will make a deep run at a birth…..Keep up the good work!!!

#8. SJ Lady Sharks = This team is most improved since last summer/fall. Team will play 16’s, So Cal and will compete for a PGF berth with a very progressive schedule. Big Bats and a solid core in place will keep this team competitive. Will need to beat the big dogs to move up. Pitching is a question mark for this team…Playing So Cal 16’s Zoom into June and showing well. Hasn’t beat any of the top Nor Cal teams to move up this summer…Team could do damage this weekend at PGF Nor Cal...Good luck!!

#9. USA Shockers= Word is this team is loaded with proven 98’s and coach Tommy is very good. Team will challenge for a PFG berth or ASA run… Great Showing Surf City 3-1, 3rd place ASA Metros 14’s Congrats!!! Chasing PGF birth this weekend in Oregon….Team could win a birth up their for sure…..You can do it!!!

#10. Grapes-Acuna = Always a well coached team with a core of Ballers in place. HS play has only helped return a better player for travel this season. Good def and solid bats are the strength. Team will play anyone anywhere. Pitching and depth will need to step up to play with the big dogs… ASA MDC Silver Finals, June Classic 16’s Silver Champs and 5th place LV…Good luck this weekend at Nor Cal PGF and will make a deep run!!! Also schedule to play TCS for end of year run!!!

#11. RR GOLD99 = STUD 99's player with good coaching. Team has loss and added a few players for the spring/summer. This team will play anybody and everyone. This team plays much more than just RR tourneys....BIG BATS and solid def....8-0 RR MDC 16’s Champions, 2nd place Mothers day classic So Cal…Team playing this weekend for Nor Cal PGF.....Could do damage….You can do it!!!

#12. Team Cali 99 = Very good coaching and Stud 99's players. Top 14's (99) pitcher throwing HEAT (close to 60mph)...Older teams don't want to play them either. Will battle all year to be the top 99’s team... ASA Metros 2nd place 14’s…teaming also making that trip to Oregon PGF this weekend…..Good Luck!!!

#13. Cal Nuggets98- Another well coached team. Team has good 98 pitching and solid players in place. Team playing anybody and everybody this summer….ASA Metros 14’s Champions and playing for Nor Cal PGF birth this weekend. Great job for a new team and keep up the good work…PGF or Nationals for 1st year team, no bad at all!!!!

#14. Grapes99-Kapp = Solid young 99’s team with very good coaching. Team has had some player movement but able to compete and get better. Team will play so cal and took 2nd place at Force this spring. Speed and small are strength, but pitching will need to be there vs. 98s….MCD 14’s Gold, 2nd place 14’s June Classic and made that trip to Surf City… Good luck this weekend at Nor Cal PGF....Give them 98’s hell this weekend.

#15. Storm98- Not a whole lot of info on this team, but went 5-2 and took 3rd place LV classic…3-2 ASA Metros 16’s…Could knock off some team this weekend at No Cal PGF…You can do it!!

HONORABLE MENTION:
#16. Valley Stompers = Top 14's coaching by far. Team has retooled and looking towards a very competitive Summer. Team had a great fall and looking to compete with the top teams. Solid pitching, def & Hitting. Coaching makes all the difference with this team. Haven’t watched them very much this summer….Looks like they will be playing TCS and could have a deep run in the Power Pool….Good Luck!!!

#17.AASA Norwood- Stud coaching and solid 99’s. Pitching will be of concern...Played Surf City and won 14's Champions June Classic….Team is gearing for a run at TCS Power Pool.

#18. Roseville Heat98- Always fields a good team, but haven’t heard much from them…6-3 2nd place LV Classic…team will be playing TCS for it’s end of year run…Good luck!!!

#19. Nevada98 = Very good hitting team and well coached. Team lost stud pitcher this season. They seem to want to play and travel to anyone. Will need to beat top teams to move up...Team has been MIA this summer!!

#20. Breeze 99- - Solid hitting, good defense and pitching. Well coached and will compete with all the others...RR 7-0 champions……ASA Metros 14’s Champions..Good luck this weekend at Nor Cal PGF!!!
