16s FATT DADDY's ....what's going on!!

It helps you understand his opinion. I'm not bashing his rankings either except for a couple teams went from not on the list to very high very fast. It's a big indicator (along with I know who he has been watching) who he has missed out on seeing.

Especially if my kids team is not even playing in that tournament.

Mr. Flam….about time you jumped in…I feel bad for those (2) 98 RR teams that get rolled by RR97 and beat by RR99’s…Not a good look to play each other all the time in friendly and mandatory RR tourneys…I know a few Orgs that will NOT let any of there teams play RR Gold. I can remember when RR Memorial Day was the S***. Way to clear a room BP…

T-Shun…. I agree 110% about Metros vs. Big Tourneys…

Fan S-ball…Thanks for the (+) words. I would love your input on teams if I have them too high or too low…. I’ve missed the bus on teams before and constructive input is always needed to make these ranking legit. Not a perfect science at all.

ICMTM: all I can say is KG plays anybody and everybody with 99’s ballin.

Last year that Heat team was good (top #15 team) , with the loud pitcher dad who is no longer on the team. We played them a lot and they always gave us a competitive game. ( I hope this isn't you???) ...Comets I don't know about or even played them over the years...Mojo's claim to fame is that they beat all 3 comets teams in one tourny...

I’m pretty good about watching my kid and the good teams they have played over the years. Nor cal softball is a very small community with way too many teams.

ICMTM, I understand completely the many reasons people want to know which team a ranker belongs to... But, I think part of the art of a good ranking is that it should be so unbiased and accurate that personal teams should be irrelevant. A lofty goal.

Fortunately, I have plenty of free time and watch lots of softball. Although there still are a few teams I haven't seen much of and don't have a strong opinion on.

Am I 100% unbiased? Nope. But my biases are largely derived by the way teams play on the field and not necessarily by which team my DD is on.

Really though, this is 14u and most people care more about getting their daughters prepared than they do about rankings, so rankings are nothing more than good bucket fodder.

If you say so....

If you can give an evaluation the basis of what's being evaluated is fair game. Otherwise it's baseless. It can make for fodder, but in the end the same fodder is what causes the inexperience parent to try to decide where to tryout, especially at 12u/1st year 14u. Again I'm not trying to cry foul or say her/his lenses are foggy. I'm just trying to see what brand of Ray Band's they are looking through.

Most people came/found Heybucket because they were looking for information, no? Not everyone is talking to their buddies, and I can guarantee you for every one person who posts four more read without a word.

So...if you provide info it's just nice to know the source. I don't think that is a disrespectful request. And if we're all a small community what's wrong with knowing your neighbor?

ICMTM...if you do some detective work you can almost always figure out a poster's affiliation. Any rankings should be taken with a grain of salt regardless of who posts it. That being said a more formula based ranking system would be great but who has the time for it?!

These threads are good sources of information especially when you have someone giving snipets on each team. A little advanced scouting if you are not 'in the know'

Gametime keep doing what you are doing. Any information is better than no information!

Oh and Tenshun...you always seem to be the voice of reason around these parts but I haven't seen a ranking from you in a while! Sprinkle some knowledge on the masses! Or maybe combine your rankings with gametime's. The 1st annual FatTenshunDaddy rankings! Haha

For anyone that thinks Gametime is biased and that's why he's missed on teams like Stars and Kryptonite, take a look at where Bracky's coaches poll has these teams ranked. Bracky is the official unbiased king of ranking and he has Kryptonite ranked #31 and I don't even think he has the Stars ranked. I'm not saying I agree where these teams are currently ranked but I am pointing out that every ranking and ranking system has it flaws.

ICMTM, since we all know what team you are from and you have the scientific method down pat, I'm sure your ranking will be completely unbiased and accurate. Until then, my non-existent ranking is about as useful as yours.

I'll keep it real as well. All metros are not created equal and no metro has all the best Norcal teams. That's why placing high in a tournament that consists of the top teams from multiple metros (like Memorial or Fresno Classic) is more important than a top finish in a Metro tournament that may only consist of a couple of top teams or may only consist of 2 teams total.

you are correct, which makes a low finish at metros look really bad for the 2 teams that were previously ranked. which is it? rank them high based on asa memorial, or rank them low based on weak showing in a weak tournament?

Actually, I never said I agreed with Gametime's current ranking. Even Gametime stated he'd probably update his ranking soon. That's why he asked for everyone's comments.

Very funny Blockster, but if I ever decided to collude with Gametime, it would be called Tenshun's Fat Daddy-Ball-Free Ranking! :D
