Lady Sharks Gold - Piper Organizational Merge

by rpiper » Thu Apr 22, 2010 8:59 am

The Lady Sharks Gold - Piper team wants to announce they have merged with the South Bay Stars organization. We will continue to use our current name for the short transition period. The South Bay Stars will now field teams in the 12u, 14u, 16u and Gold levels. Addtional teams will be formed in the fall. We felt this was a great opportunity to grow our team and to grow the entire organization. The Stars are a relatively new organization in San Jose but offer:
* A 17,000 square foot, 3 story indoor hitting, pitching facility in San Jose,
* Full Weight Room with indoor runnng tracks
* Multiple hitting, pitching and fielding areas,
* A professional speed and conditioning coach
And most importantly, a positive mission statement that encourages all the players to strive to do their best in a positive coaching environment.

Good luck to you in this endeavor, but the last part just makes me chuckle. is there any team that doesnt have a "Positive" mission statement or philosophy written somewhere.

Kind of like listening to Tiger Woods wedding vows.

This is not really directed to this post, im just talking in general here.

Good luck to the Sharks!

17k foot facility? WOW. Wish we had one

Something that may have missed many people's radar here is that Lady Sharks-Piper has not been affiliated with or any part of the San Jose Lady Sharks organization for many years. The San Jose Lady Sharks are a cohesive group led by Tom Barrera and are currently fielding 9 teams- 2 each in Gold, 16u, 14u, and 12u, as well as a 10u team.

Lady Sharks-Piper is a single team 'organization' who chose to hang onto the name after being asked to leave the San Jose Lady Sharks for a variety of reasons. The confusion, especially among college coaches, has done more harm than good for many young girls, but we wish them the best with the Stars.

I probably shouldn't do this but sometimes you have to call an ahole exactly that.

Tom, as you well know, the Piper Sharks team were the Sharks before the "organization" even existed, as were you. They had just as much right to the name as you did.

Piper and his team chose to leave your organization because you are a dictator who can not allow anyone to have a differing point of view. There were also several issues with you not accounting for funds that came through the organization. There were committments made on how funds would be spent in the organization meetings and then you chose to spend money differently. There were teams that rented the facility whose maney never appeared on the books. It just disappeared into a black hole. Maybe everything you did was legit but it never appeared that way. They also disagreed with you attempting to take players off their team. The agreement from the very beginning was that each team would run separately. No A No B No Bull.

They decided to leave the organization rather than battle with you over money, arbitrary organization requirements and violation of the agreements that were made when your team and their team joined together. Too many parents were asking for explanations for things that couldn't be explained or justified. Any time you were questioned about anything you flew off the handle. If it makes you feel better to say you kicked them out then good for you. Except you know it isn't true.

Interesting that you would say they were asked to leave as they still have the emails from you asking them to return to the organization after they left. Should they send those to you to refresh your memory?

You have done an excellent job of putting together your organization and have continued to do well over all. How about deleting your freaking post rather than continuing to be the AHOLE you have always been.
