Sorcerer 14U Tryouts

The Sorcerer 14U will be holding tryouts at Rodriguez High School on Sunday Aug 15th and Sunday Aug. 22. Pitchers and catchers will be from 10-12 AM with position player try outs to follow. Two former players, currently with prominent colleges, will be helping out at tryouts before they head back to school.

A recent note from Phil Mumma:

I want to tell you that I have appointed a new 14&U coaching staff for the
fall season and beyond. Bill Schroll, a highly-decorated Sorcerer softball
veteran, will serve as the new head coach. Bill has been coaching ASA for a
dozen years, first as head coach at the 10&U and later at the 12&U and 14&U
levels. His teams have achieved Top 10 finishes nationally in all three age
groups, including 4th place finishes in both the 12s and 14s. He has been a
major factor in the development of a number of current collegiate players playing at several prestigous programs. Bill over the past two years has assisted in our 18 Gold program
while temporarily scaling back his involvement while his youngest daughter
completed high school. He also serves as an assistant in the highly-successful
Rodgriguez High School program in Fairfield.

Schroll will be assisted by Bruce Lane and Martin Garcia, both with valuable ASA
and high school coaching experience. Lane has two daughters who have played
collegiate softball and Garcia's daughter will play at a Pac 10 school following
her graduation from high school next spring.

None of the coaches will have daughters playing in the Sorcerer program.

We hope that you will attend the team's tryouts. They will be held Sunday Aug.
15 and 22 at Rodgriguez H.S. in Fairfield/Cordelia. Times are 10 a.m. to 12 for
pitchers and catchers, with position player tryouts to immediately follow.

We are still looking for a couple more players. We had a good turnout last weekend, but we held a couple of spots open before making our final offers this weekend. Pitchers and catchers tryouts start at 10AM, position players at 12. Tryouts are at Rodriguez High School at the I80/680 junction in Cordelia.
