Steve Allen- Former Capital City Comets Coach

by Nor-Cal Ball » Tue Jul 26, 2011 4:38 pm

He was the assistant coach for the team. I'm sure you all remember him, the bald headed guy with all the tatoos. Well the looser is currently incarcerated for Penal Code 647.6(A) molesting a child under 18. And yes it was someone on the team. Just a heads up if anyones daughter came in contact with him in the past!! This is public record and everyone in the softball community should be aware.

He was coaching on the Comets-Loomis team. Other teams he was affiliated in the past were Mizuno All-American and Cordova Fury. The sick looser had the nerve to do all of that with his own daughter on the team and his wife being the score keeper.

He is a SICK and Disgusting man. We trust that these ORGANIZATIOS give our girls coaches that can be trusted and mentor our DD. I just don't see how none of the other coaches on the staff or the organizations did not pick up on what he was doing. There had to have been some sort of signs of what he was doing. The organizations need to do more to protect our kids and make sure this does not happen again. My prayers go out to the family.

The sad part here is that the head coach took his side and did not believe the girl, even though there was tons of evidence that led to a conviction.

I dont know what more an organization can do besides getting background checks done. Is the organization supposed to chaperon the coaches to all events and "Watch" them?

And who cares what the head coach believed or didnt believe? If allegations were made, they should have been taken to the appropriate authorities, not the head coach.

This stuff makes me sick. As a father of four girls and a long time coach, you should not be leaving your daughters alone with coaches.

When we are on the road, I never allow players in my room, unless it is a team thing that would have other coaches or maybe even parents in the room.

As a school teacher, I try to avoid kids in my room by themselves at all costs. It is unfortunate that these things happen, but the only way to ensure your daughter is protected, is to make sure they are not alone with these scum to begin with.

Why are kids and coaches texting each other(there are a few good reasons, but FEW)? Why are kids on facebook with coaches?

I unfortunately had some former players that I didnt think I would ever coach again ask to be friends on facebook, I allowed them, then they joined my team later that year. But I try to make a point of not allowing players access to me outside of the softball field. That is probably the number one way these predators start their crap with these kids, is through online or cell phone activity.

In my opinion, the red flag should go up as soon as a coach is speaking to players outside of the field/practice area. Not every coach is a predator, but outside contact should be limited IMO.

Keep your kids safe!

Lets put some clarity on this subject. Coming from someone that has the facts of this matter. Yes, he is in jail. Yes, they conduct from him was in-appropriate. Yes there was sexual content involved in "sexting" that was taking place. . It was in his personal opinion that it was all harmless flirting, Which is wrong for him to carry on in that flirting with girls who are minors>>>>>> So the man is paying his dues in many ways. YES, I do think that all of his actions were wrong.PERIOD!!!
As for the Comets org and the head Coach, Mike Loomis, all that should have been done once this matter was exposed, was done... Steve was immediately dismissed from the staff, banned from attending any games, practices, or contact with the girls while the issue was being investigated. I have known Mike for several years now and he is a "Stand UP GUY".. Always has the girls best interest's in mind, and would not allow harm to a hair on their arms if he could stop it at any cost. All of the proper steps were follwed before Steve was allowed to be on the coaching staff, Background check etc... So my statement to all who are posting on this topic,,,Leave the Comets bashing and Head coach slander out of this. All that could be done by the Head coach and the org was done swiftly.... Most of the girls on the team, are still playing for Mike and they have had to endure the mental grief that was brought upon them with this matter, They have discussed the matter amongst themselves, dealt with the heartache and have become stronger individuals and team mates. Now they are a stronger unit than ever and starting to get core "SOFTBALL values BACK INTO PLAY. THEY CORE OF THIS TEAM IS STRONGER THAN EVER!

What clarity did you provide other than to say a man had poor judgement and the Comets Head was innocent? If anything you're minimizing what happened to save the face of the org. The point is we as parents HAVE TO on some level be able to trust coaches, scout leaders, educators, etc that they are there FOR the good of the girls mental and physical health. There's no excuse to accept less or for a person of such stature to deliver less!

I think the focus has been placed on the accused.
