Premier vs ASA 12UNationals

by lookingIN » Fri Sep 09, 2011 10:20 am

We had out first post Natonals meeting on Tuesday and set up meetings to deal with specific topics. I will post some information as we now know it and will post more as we make changes, or not, to areas of concern.

First to the insane notion that this year was the final Premier Nationals, that is ridiculous. We feel that the tournament was a big success again overall and we did not start this and nearly kill ourselves throughout June, July and part of August to walk away from it.

The dates for next year for 12u will be a week earlier than the other age groups were held this year, the others on the same dates adjusting for the change of calendar July 30-August 4 with a small possibility of having the final games August 5 if we can get more TV. We are as of now undecided about 10u. We have had some discussion about putting the 14u with 12u, we have also discussed starting the 14u on the Wednesday or Thursday before the 16u and 18HS starts. We will decide those issues at our next meeting on September 6.

Now that Premier has opened the doors for the 12U, where are the Nor Cal teams planning to play :?: :?: :?:

Nor Cal would be better off going to ASA Nationals vs Premier to be competitive. So Cal will run the table in both, but Nationals there is at least a fighting chance. If you don't have a strong team that competes and can fork over the cash, then Triple Crown is another option.

If you look at it as a percentage of population there are just as many good NorCal teams as SoCal teams. There are just that many more kids playing softball down there.

With that being said a few teams can go down to socal and be competitive in the PGF. The teams that entered into the PGF from NorCal weren't the last place finishers.
