Mizuno-Garcia/Team Cal championship game

by blackrooster » Mon Oct 24, 2011 1:31 pm

Great game on Sunday, it was a real championship. It was a joy to watch elite twelve year old softball players give it everything they had.

I stayed late to watch this game and see both teams. It was a very good game. I thought both teams were well coached with solid pitching and defense. The Mizuno team looked more well rounded with their execution on offense and base running. I thought the Demarini coaching made a mistake at the end of the game which may have forced a tie breaker had the mistake not been made. Overall these are the two best 12's teams I have seen this fall with the edge obviously going to Mizuno.

How do you guys think RR Gold stacks up against these teams?

I haven't seen the 12u RR play this fall. They were very good in the summer. I was told that mizuno beat RR a few weeks ago? I'm not able to comment otherwise.

Anyone know how much the rosters of RR and mizuno have changed since summer?

Mizuno picked up 4 to 5 players that make this team strong. Another good pitcher, a good catcher a lot of good infielders and some heavy bats have been brought to the team.

I was told last night by my neighbor who coaches another 12u team that Mizuno is the best 12u team in Nor Cal and has been playing 14's this fall and winning games against other top 14's. They are apparently going to LA in November to play the top teams there.

I have watched Mizuno and RR play several times. These two teams have great respect for each other . It usually comes down to an error and you never know who is going to win when they play.

Thanks for the updates.

Mizuno's #1 was VERY solid last year and their D was pretty good too. IMO, the only thing they were missing was more depth at the plate (they had a few good hitters, but needed more to put them over the top). Sounds like they might have picked up a few missing pieces.

Now both RR and Mizuno have solid pitching, good defense and BIG bats... Maybe RR bats still a bit bigger? Maybe Mizuno has more depth?

A recipe for some great matchups.
