My DD got invited also. There are two teams, one based in Florida that Dot Richardson is coaching, and one based In So Cal coached by Leah Amico. It is a softball/academic program wher the kids will go over and play softball against the Dominican club teams and also learn about the Dominican culture. You will be playing for your country wearing a USA jersey. It is not free you have to pay your DD's way and pay your way also if you want to acompany her over there. My wife did some looking around on the site and you also might get College credit for going ....I guess like a foreign exchange type of thing. Website is http://www.amteamsport.com both teams will practice together once In the Dominican Republic. Hope this helps.

First of all, if a family has the money to go on a softball adventure like this, then more power to them, but I think it's more of a vacation than a recruiting opportunity.
I also think many families would be trying to fit college visits into their budget instead.

I seem to remember a similar post last year about this time, but I think the trip was to Italy or somewhere in Europe.
It would help if someone who went on that trip could come on and share their experience.

I can't help but think this is also a way for the coaches mentioned to go on an all expense paid vacation themselves.
Deserve's got nothin' to do with it.

The Italy trip never happened. The week they were set to go was the same week as either PGF or ASA Nat's. I think PGF??? The cost was going to be $10,000 per player to make the trip. Oh and one of the coaches got knocked up and was having her baby in the time frame of the trip, Oops!!! Between all of that it got canceled.

Like you said if you had the time to go and the $$$, It was truly a great chance to have a softball vacation. Bus rides through Itlay to different parts the schedule was going to be basically 1 game each day which would leave plenty of time for site seeing and enjoying Italy. Something most athletes will never have the chance to do. If my daughter was presented the chance to do a trip like this I personally would try to figure out how to make it happen. Something she will remember for life. How many athletes can say they played in (insert Country) with USA on their chest while in High School. At least this one is ahead of PGF and ASA Nats. hopefully you could still do both.
