12u Fall tryouts-Who are favorites & sleepers going forward?

by lockdown » Tue Aug 13, 2013 3:58 pm

Any predictions or insight as to who fared well in tryouts and who will be a Nor Cal force to be reckoned with this Fall and next Summer? Who are the sleepers to keep an eye on? Top 10 predictions?

Heard there was a team or two that folded up shop. I think slice was the biggest one. Any others?

California All Star Fastpitch (mostly played NSA) folded their 10u & 12u teams. We're new to the 12u age bracket. Who has great teams year in and year out at this age group?

It seems like Louie usually has a pretty good ranking and rundown of the top 10-15 teams. Not sure where he went or why nobody else has generated a ranking. It seems hard to do. Uncle posted his top 10 but there was no description of them. There seems to be quite a few teams out there at the 12's. I don't know who is coming up from the 10's. I guess maybe the dust has to settle a bit.

I believe that both Louie and Uncle are moving up to 14's so someone new will have to step up. What's the word of Roseville Heat 01? Did they keep most of their team together? I will give them props for being much improved by years end.

I'd agree about the Heat. They fared well at Westerns. How did Foothill Gold '01 do? Did they go anywhere? What about Spartans?

Heat kept the majority of the players they went to western nationals with but changed names. The Foothill Gold 01 picked up one but kept the rest of the team intact. Haven't heard about the Spartans but my guess is they will stay with the same roster.

Did either of them take part in any championship play?

This is probably a better question to ask in a few months. I agree with SW44 and let the dust settle. All the up and comers will take Whoopins as they adapt to the changes 12U brings. Most teams at the start will be giving kids chances at different positions and more at bats to show their new squads what they got. When teams narrow their starters down is when this question can be answered. Parents gotta remember its a marathon, not a sprint and that the older established teams have a huge advantage with size and experience.

Well who are the top 10 right now? Any solid '02 teams moving up?
