PGF Returners & Invited Teams

by Wilson Bats » Tue Dec 17, 2013 7:49 pm

The invited teams have been posted on the PGF web site. It looks as if only 2 18 Gold teams Grapettes Gold & Sorcerers. In the 16U just one invite the Breeze-Mashburn team with Kiko's 14U team gathering an invite also. I provide the link below.

PGF is becoming everything they hated about ASA. The GOBC lives on.

Just trying to share the info and proud that NorCal received 4 invites. I'm not aware of YOUR GOBC. The better coaches draw the better players and if you looked seriously at those coaches you would know their teams earned the invite. I would look for many more Nor Cal teams to qualify and hopefully we have 20 GOBC in So Cal. :x

didn't Sorcerer and Grapes get their invites by being on the "board"? not so sure what KG or Breeze did to "earn" their invites, but ok.

No one from the Sorcerer or the Grapettes organization on the PGF Board

semantics. Roy is a "PGF Regional Director" and hosts qualifiers = highly involved member of PGF, and Phil was a major player in the PGF movement from day one. automatic "invites".

Phil's team earned a returning berth last year, but PGF berths go to the coach and are not transferable. That invite simply replaces the returning berth that Sorcerers earned.

point was that they will always get an "invite", even if they don't earn a berth. there is a reason for that. doesn't bother me, but old darter is right on about the "good ole boys club"

There's a small number of invites. All it means is having to play 1 tournament less.

11 berths and 17 invites, 28 teams are already in. 40% of the field is already set. not very small.
