AASA Future Stars has a new Regional Director

Former Division 1 College Coach and standout Big Ten softball player Brandi Macias has joined the Future Stars as Regional Director of the East County Teams Future Stars Teams. “We are super excited to have Brandi on board. She is a special coach and a special person. We know our players will blossom under her guidance.” Said Debbie Nelson Nationally respected softball expert and owner of the All American Sports Academy. “Brandi has some unique skills that will really add to our overall organization, I can not wait for our kids to benefit from Brandi’s mental training and her offensive and defensive expertise. She played multiple positions and has coached and umpired at the highest levels of the game. No one knows the mental game better than Brandi.” added Nelson.

Brandi completed a four-year playing career at the University of Iowa in the Big Ten Conference and then became an NCAA Division I softball coach at Purdue University. At Purdue University she specialized in Hitting/ Catching/ Outfield/ and mental game preparation instruction. As a player, Brandi led the Hawkeyes to a Big Ten Championship ring her senior year (a perfect 22-0 season) and three consecutive trips to the Women's College World Series. Macias was an All-American and a member of the NCAA first team All-Region and first team All- Big Ten. She batted .385 as a senior. As well as a decorated catcher/center fielder, Brandi is the current all-time home run leader at Iowa. She also tied a Women's College World Series record for most hits in a game with five against conference rival Michigan.

“Brandi shares the same passion for great softball and for helping young players become great players that really defines our organization. It is this passion and commitment that continues to attract so many of the highest quality coaches in this softball. Like the rest of our organization, she is very serious about giving our players the absolute best that can be given in this sport.” said Administrative Director Peter Holtz. “We can now count two Division 1 coaches and an Olympic Hall of Fame player in our staff of Directors. We have already seen amazing growth in our players now we are supercharging our efforts.”

As we move toward the tryouts that have been scheduled for our new teams in early August in the towns of Brentwood, Sacramento, Livermore, and the San Joaquin/Stanislaus areas we will steadily announce our new Coaches and programs. Players in the 8u, 10u, 12u, and 14u age brackets need to sign up for the tryouts at http://www.aasafuturestars.com to be sure to receive all the of information that will be so critical to their choice for the fall.

AASA FS will be fielding both highly competitive A teams and development teams for younger, less experienced players who will be trained to also compete at the highest level in this sport by the best Coaching team in the business.
