What's Wrong With "Frisco"?

This is not a softball related question, but now that NorCal has its own board, I may as well ask the question here.

Why do the folks up in the Bay Area get so agitated when someone refers to San Francisco as "Frisco"?

Are there any great teams from 'Frisco? I haven't heard of any... is it because gay couples just don't have many female offspring?

Sorry but this example doesn't fly...

"Cali" is a dangerous town in Columbia where nefarious drug dealers live and do business, and thus carries a negative connotation.

"Frisco" is a "kid", either a young goat or a young boy, and aren't the denizens of SF happy with either?
