On behalf of SoCal, we'd like to apologize for the unusually muggy weather this year - even though most of you didn't notice it. I blame it on ASA/USA 14U Nats being down south in San Diego. Only ASA can make it rain in Midland and SoCal during a severe drought.
Muggy?...pfffft You dont know muggy...trust me...
I dont think ASA Nats vs PGF Nats is necessarily a fair competition...Many other orgs have Nats...USSSA, USFA, Little League...more than I care to try to name...Some are 'creations' of orgs who cant / wont compete with the Big 2...Some are for kids who cant / are unable to compete for numerous reasons...Some are creations simply for $$$$$$
With my kid...we've been to USSSA...ASA...USFA...and PGF
As far as, location, facilities, coaches present...PGF wins...by leaps and bounds
The fact the PGF IS in the same location (s) is actually a tremendous PLUS...continuous 'tweaking' of the setup isn't necessary...Fields are great...Haven't played on a terrible field yet at PGF...The practice of always having the tourney in a different requires scrounging up fields...Usually to include REC fields..or crappy city fields...
And for those who don't know, I don't live in SoCal...
I'm not rich but my kid and I did things to 'make it happen'...and by doing so, I've met some of the best people in the USA...and I am very grateful for them...and we've made friends for life...
Was funny how my kid and BAM's started girl chat like they've been friends for years and years...changed stereotypes for both...
And when I see a mobile police tower setup to protect a parking lot at a National venue...and even worse nobody ever in it...It doesn't make me feel safe for my wife and kids...Never felt that way in SoCal at PGF...
Not gonna name teams...but I do know ASA was handing out freebie berths like Mardi Gras beads at a New Orleans parade...basically send check, you play...Which waters down the competition immensely...Do those teams deserve to play? I guess, but what does that say about 'talent pool' draw to coaches who have precious little time to use...
