In the end, your "fact" as stated earlier is nothing but whitewash. PGF could have scheduled their qualifier on almost any weekend they wanted to. They chose that particular weekend because it didn't interfere with their other moneymaking business, and the business of their friends.

PGF/SC have enough trouble running one event or the other - I'd hate to see them try to run both at the same time. Besides manpower, they'd need more fields and that would be very problematic.

Their decision to schedule a conflict with ASA wasn't guided by the best interest of the players, but rather by the best interest of their business, pure and simple.

Successful businesses never lose sight of serving their primary customer base and those teams would rather PGF schedule around the major showcases than ASA qualifiers.

ASA qualifiers in SoCal are spread across 5 consecutive weekends and the PGF SoCal qualifier only conflicted on 1. If PGF really wanted to cause conflict, they would have gone head-to-head on more weekends. SoCal ASA could compress their schedule because their qualifiers are drawing less teams and they can't find takers for all their berths.

Uno is absolutely correct with the rise of PGF it gives a lot of B teams the opportunity to play in a ASA national tournament. Some of the organizations that now have qualified for ASA nationals have never qualified before. Thanks PGF and ASA for giving some B teams a piece of the pie.

TH, why keep beating a dead horse? PGF and ASA are now competitors. Period. The founders of PGF went this route after years of pleading with ASA to make some changes.

Teams now make informed choices about where they want to play. They roll the dice and chase the berth that they want. In California and AZ, the clear choice among the better teams has been PGF. With one exception that I know of, teams that have earned or have been invited to PGF that have also earned an ASA berth have not turned down PGF for ASA. (edited)

Absolutely agree. I can't imagine any scenario in which the girls come first that might justify or excuse ASA recent decision. PGF only came in to the discussion because ASA's new rule is obviously aimed as a strike in the conflict between the two orgs. It wouldn't be the first time a thread diverged from its original intent, but some good points have been raised that merit further discussion, if not in this thread, then maybe a new thread is in order.

Btw, I'm not pro or anti ASA or PGF. They should both put the best interest of the girls first, and some of that is being lost in the conflict, and is worthy of discussion. But maybe Heybucket is the wrong place for open discussion that might include opinions and observations that put the actions of PGF under a harsh light. Maybe because so many of you are dependant on Haning and Hay for your berths to PGF, and getting "good fields" at Surf City, it is better and safer to stay quiet, or circle the wagons, than to put their favor at risk . Beat on ASA when they err, but whitewash and browbeat when anyone questions PGF. I know that isnt always the case, but its certainly the direction this is going. If my opinions are so far from the party line that they aren't welcome, the moderators are more than capable, and welcome, to censor my posts or even delete my account. Funny that PGF founders have a problem with ASA changing their selection process for JNT in midseason, but didn't have a problem when they changed how teams "selected" for their tournament mid-stream. You know, the only top 8 plus ties will get an invitation to the 2012 national tournament. Oh wait, nevermind....more invitations will be sent out.

PGF didn't just take the next 20 teams as far as placement from 2011, nope, they hand selected 20 teams based on their own criteria. No notice given just added invitations.

Although, just recently when PGF was taking over the softball world, without a doubt to try and "hurt" the ASA organization, everyone on the PGF bandwagon was hunky dory!!!...HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA ASA says, you may have your "NATIONALS" PGF...but you wont affect OURS!!...LOL It's an easy fix...someone said it earlier in the thread....just adjust your (PGF) dates AROUND ASA..... hahahahaha
