Didn’t realize that a local mayor and a city council could override a governor. If social distancing still has to be maintained during the tournament, then that means there is still a risk. Seems like the “very low casualties” are being trivialized just because we have 40 million people in California. Even one death is one too many. And even one death that could be related to the PGF tournament or qualifiers would be one too many.

Might they run into an issue of being able to hold the games, but not being allowed to have any spectators (like what many of the pro sports plan) with no college coaches would it be worth going ? Also, does anyone know what effects the extension of eligibility has on the number of scholarship slots and money available?

I think the fact that every college athlete this spring was given another year of eligibility will make it much harder for the next 4 years of HS grads to get a ride. Even though many college seniors will not return (except for the top players from the Power 5 conferences), almost all recruits will get less money, most will get a lot less, and the bottom third may not get any offers.

Glad my DD has the grades and SAT/ACT scores to get her money through academics, and I hope more girls and parents will put more focus on on the student part of student/athlete. As it should have always been.

I think the 5th year will not effect the money aspect of Scholarships, but more about playing time for incoming Freshman.
Bigger issue may be that kids and parents may not want to go to school out of state now that this has happened as they may want to be closer to home.

To the PGF news letter it looks like two different individuals wrote it. The 1st portion seem to be a little more level headed and stating optimism, but going to follow guidelines. Where the National News Sources section is more pointed to OC will do what we want.

It also says that most May qualifiers will be played, But Stay at home is due to lift May 15 here in CA & May qualifiers are May 16?

How does it not effect the money- more players chasing the same number of dollars- fewer "slots" available

Additional year of eligibility does not necessarily mean additional year of scholarship. Just means they can play an additional year.

I understand that, but are they going to play for no $$$?

Just announced that Orange County cancelled the county fair which runs from mid July thru mid August. Is PGF nationals next?
