PGF Qualifier in Florida

Questions and discussions involving PGF

by ontheblack » Wed Jun 22, 2011 11:15 am

One cant blame PGF or ASA for the economics that impact team and family decisions with regard to expensive travel right now. That said, a 3 day trip to Colorado that gives a SoCal team better than a 50/50 shot to qualify to play Premier in HB is STILL cheaper than 7-8 days in Midland.

One option to consider in the future is to divide the country into regions and only allow teams in that region to play qualifiers in that region. A western region would still allow So Cal teams to travel to AZ, NorCal and WA. That should allow teams enough opportunities to qualify.

Just a thought...

Congrats to the teams that garnered berths from the Florida qualifiers. Not only were you savvy enough to get your kids on the sports biggest stage, you saved your team, and families, tens of thousands of dollars in travel expenses. In the real world that would be considered good, intelligent, business. Why should travel ball be any different? Well done, and good luck.
Don't worry about tomorrow. You did that yesterday.

It is better to have teams travel around and get berths. For our team we always enjoyed seeing the California teams come in and try to take a berth. Sometimes they would, sometimes we would get it. It was a great chance for a lot of our local teams to see the level of ball that these other teams play.

;) I think a big thank you is in order, without the likes of Gary Hanining and Dan Hay many of our kids would never have been given the exposure they needed. With that said I would like to say thank you for putting yourselves out there and hosting all these tournaments. Our team went to the premeir last year and it was well worth it our berth was earned in the winners bracket and our kids got the exposure they deserve. This year we have chosen to play in San diego and yes once again our berth was earned through hard work. My only suggestion is to be as honest as you can put your name on it invite who you please, givith as you please no doubt you both are legends in the softball world its your touranment and your right! Do we all wish we had an invite probably as parents we look at our check book and would answer yes, are some teams given preffered status? no doubt its called life I for one beleive in competition Asa and Premier compete like the rest of us and may one make the other better.
