PGF rule - Re: Roster freeze

Questions and discussions involving PGF

by gotmilk » Wed Jul 06, 2011 11:46 am

This is on the PGF rules site:

"Once a team qualifies for the Nationals, all players on that team are frozen until August 7, 2011. Qualifying teams may add players until the roster deadline July 18, 2011. Players may be added from any team in a like or younger age group if the player to be added was not on the roster of a team that qualified for the Nationals in any age group. Invited teams may add to the roster until the roster deadline of July 18, 2011 provided the player to be added was not on the roster of a qualifying team at any time after the team qualified. Players who compete in a qualifying tournament at any age group may not be added to a team in a younger age group. Players on an invited team are unrestricted within their age group or an older age group until the July 18, 2011 roster deadline"

----
Do you agree Nationals here refers to PGF Nationals and has nothing to do with ASA Nationals?

Thanks,

Can somebody clarify this. The way I am reading it, sounds like a player on an invited team can go play for other teams until the roster deadline in PGF Qualifier. Probably me misunderstanding it. If that is the case, if they play for a team in a qualifier that qualifies, they wouldn't be able to go back to play for their invited team at the National Championship , is that right? :?:

If a player plays on a team that qualifies, they are locked into that team. They will not be able to play for another team. The invited teams must have their roster entered by July 18th. All rosters are frozen after that date.

What about if the player was on a team that qualified for PGF and ASA nationals and turned their berth down for one or the other.

Would that player be eligible to guest on another team?

If her original team turned down the PGF berth and it was before 7/18 could she guest on another team in a PGF event or vice versa...if the player's team turned down their berth to ASA nationals could that player guest on another team for an ASA event (like champions cup)?

Are they technically 'released' from their team per ASA and free to guest on another team?

Does PGF honor the ASA player contracts?

Again, PGF and ASA have nothing to do with each other. If your question pertains to PGF eligibility, simply pretend ASA doesn't exist. Anything ASA sanctioned, such as ASA player contracts, similarly do not exist as pertaining to participation in PGF championship play.

It seems like you're trying to ask "If DD played on a team which earned a berth to PGF Nationals, but that team turned down the berth, can she play on another team in PGF events?"

The statement from PGF which you provided does not specifically address a scenario in which a team declines a PGF berth.

However, it is unlikely she would be bound to her original team, since they are not continuing in PGF championship play.

As far as I know, Champions Cup rosters are not affected by PGF or ASA restrictions.
Don't worry about tomorrow. You did that yesterday.

A player from an invited team could play for another team but as soon as that team plays in a qualifier she would be on the team that tried to qualify if they did qualify, she could not go back.

WOW! ASA and PGF qualified? Sounds like a pretty good team. Why would you want to leave? And, you'd really have to wonder about the team offering the "guest" status...

How many pick up players are allowed (PGF) ? Also I understand they would need PGF ID. Question is can pick up player be signed on roster before July 18th, while waiting to receive PGF ID's, even if said ID's arrived after July 18th but before first game played?
