Questions and discussions involving PGF

That's too bad. ! they should have played More games yesterday , I think the latest games were played at 6 by 14u teams. The 16 and 18 games were done for the day at 4pm.

PGF has had a lot of issues this year but hopefully they get it right next year. Not much you can do about rain. Feel for the teams in the loser bracket who traveled far as they werent able to battle for a berth. Maybe some of them can still obtain a berth and reach their goal

Weather is unpredictable, so can't do anything about it. Also, one poster said that maybe the games could have gone later on Saturday, maybe there was no field availability, but also consider that kids get tired and sometimes it may not be in their best interest to keep going on a particular day based on a weather forecast for the next day. Just sayin..

You could be right about all the possible factors.

While you are just sayin', I am confident that if this was an ASA Qualifier instead of a PGF Qualifier, the majority here would be talking about ASA knowingly backloading the tournament to keep teams there overnight to make more money for the host.

Just sayin .....

What they did is they got the 14s done on Saturday, so they could get out of town early, saving money.

The 16s and 18s were rained out Sunday, and there isn't much you can do to stop the rain.

Note that it also rained Friday night, and the NW Bullets folks were out there early Saturday making sure the fields were ready to go. They did a great job all weekend.
Don't worry about tomorrow. You did that yesterday.

I agree backloading is backloading, and when done strictly for profit, it screws the customer.

In the case of this tournament the NW bullets did not have an iron clad grip on the hotel situation, which is the primary way to make money on a backloading scheme.

As to the 16's, the losers bracket was wiped out and the berths awarded to the 4 remaining undefeated teams. 16's: Steal Breeze Elite, Lady Magic, Minors Gold, Oregon Reign

In the HS 18's there were only two berths to be awarded, with just two teams left in the winners bracket. HS18's: NW Fireballs Gold and Oregon Thunder Gold.

Plenty of unhappy teams who were still fighting in the losers bracket, but the fields were clearly unplayable and would be for hours once the rain stopped, which was not until 4pm.

From looking at PGF page. The loser bracket teams that did not finish on Sunday were granted berths as well. For a total of 8 berths in 16's. TCS (show and go)

Makes sense, particularly as it was the final qualifier of the season. The real concern for PGF is why where there so many left over spots? Sounds like maybe some East coast/Florida teams might have decided to stay close to home and play ASA.

PGF said two berths out of NW qualifier 18HS and they wind up giving 4 berths, two berths went to two suck ass teams out of the bay area(Strike Zone and the San Jose Sting). Strike Zone took four teams to the ASA gold qualifier in Spokane and couldn't get it done and lost to the San Jose Sting in the LOSERS bracket game and PGF still let them in. There are much better teams in LA and around the country that deserve a better shot at this then these teams. When you have PGF board members that also coach teams in Premier your going to have big problems.

Watch and see if the Batbusters and So Cal A's don't wind up drawing these two teams. I'm just sayin!!! :o    :o

Considering it is a blind draw done if front of all the coaches, that would be amazing :o
