The Championship game is winner take all since it is on television. They split the 68 teams into two 34-team double elimination brackets. The two teams that win their respective bracket then play in a winner take all game.

Are the 14 and 16 brackets set up the same way? essentially 2 mini-tourneys with the winners playing a single game?
Don't worry about tomorrow. You did that yesterday.

Yes they are. We will be broadcasting both the 14U and 16U championship games live on the internet.

My memory is hazy on this point, but wasn't (isn't) there a crossover at some point between the two brackets in each tournament, to deal with the possibility of one side having the two strongest teams?

Looking forward to the second version; truly enjoyed the first edition.

Yes, the crossover happens at the final games of each double elim bracket - each winners bracket finalist plays the finalist from the other losers bracket.

Thanks

We do the draw for pool games after the bracket draw so that teams do not play pool play games against their first opponent in elimination.

Why wait until Sunday? I know the coaches will be there, but why is that necessary?
Don't worry about tomorrow. You did that yesterday.

A few years back at Gold a majority of the top teams mysteriously all ended up in the same quarter of the bracket.

Statistically speaking, that is bound to happen from time to time.

So the theory was that ASA conspired to have a bunch of the best teams eliminated early? Why would they want that?

If trust is the issue, these days they could always video-conference the draws. Just seems much more practical from all sides.

The main reason is because that is what the majority of the travel coaches want. Premeir tries to listen to what the coaches want. Attending the draw is fun. Dogging the other team when they draw lousy is fun. Getting dogged after a draw is fun. Majority of the coaches enjoy attending the draw live.
College coaches will have penty of time to find the schedule and plan their days.
