Must be that the 2012 tournament just ended a few weeks ago.

Maybe so...but it seems that many of the OTHER big nationals, and/or showcases for next summer have their dates posted...are we to assume it is going to the the same week as ASA again??? :?:

When/where is SoCal ASA States in 2013? I checked their website but didn't find a any dates for next year.
Ladies, if a man tells you he will fix it, he will fix it. There is no reason to remind him about it every six months.

Most of the teams that can qualify for PGF wouldn't go to ASA nationals so why does it matter?

At this point they are two completely different tournaments.

Speaking to Coaches in our organization they have heard that PGF is looking to move a week later then ASA so teams at 16u may have a chance to qualify and participate in both PGF and ASA. My daughters team is playing a heavy fall Schedule and hopes to qualify for ASA this fall and then work on PGF in the spring and summer.

Of course they're different tournaments.

And in SoCal, or course the teams that "can" qualify will play PGF, but there were many that tried and didn't quite qualify for PGF that would have gone to ASA had the qualifier dates been staggered, as they should be. Many teams ended up going nowhere for nationals, which isn't necessarily good if you ask the girls, who would rather be playing somewhere than nowhere.

There were a lot of teams in SoCal that probably would have done well at ASA, but with the conflicting qualifying dates they made what turned out to be poor choices as to where to qualify. Many of the teams at the PGF qualifier had little, if any, chance of qualifying. I suspect that if they schedule conflicting dates again next year that some coaches will take a more realistic view of their opportunities at PGF. Additionally, if you fail to qualify for ASA you can always play Western Nats. Not every team is a top tier PGF level team, but they still should be able to pursue other opportunities to play in a nationals.

This does bring up an interesting point...if PGF wants more teams at its qualifiers then they should schedule their finals on different weeks than ASA.

Maybe so that PFG just ended, but they don't have a long history so you don't have any ideas what the dates will be for qualifiers and with limited PGF qualifiers sure would be nice to know early. With ASA you can usually know the dates and locations of the larger tournaments in the Mid West.

It sure will make it hard to plan your 2013 season....
