14U/16U PGF dates fall on top of Atlanta Legacy Showcase

This is terrible and will force many teams that planned on going to PGF, instead go to ASA Nats. The Legacy is HUGE and the dates were set months ago. The dates and new rules were announced at the meeting tonight in Atlanta with PGF and Legacy organizers (Ga. Impact and Atlanta Vipers). I think this is aweful. It may even force alot of 16s to do ASA instead as well. There are so many teams that do not want to miss the Legacy. I guess everyone that had planned both will now have to choose.

The way I understood was Premier 16/14 would be same week as ASA Gold Nationals which is 07/22-27 in 2013; 18HS/18A would be same week as ASA 16A/14A which is 07/28-08/04 in 2013. Atlanta Legacy announced their new dates for 2013 as 07/18-21. So, Legacy Showcase ends on Sunday 07/21 and Premier 16/14 starts on Monday 07/22. I'm sure teams that plan to play both will be contacting Legacy TD after qualifying for Premier and they will surely accomidate scheduling around travel time for Premier Qualified teams.

The PGF draw for 14/16 is Saturday the 20th and pool play starts Sunday the 21st which is the weekend of Legacy. As I stated last night. The meeting was held here in Atlanta and there are alot of unhappy campers. When asked could the dates be moved, both sides said no.

Bottom line that time of year, from the end of July to beginning of August is ALWAYS when nationals are held. Everyone knows that. So even if the exact dates are not posted the general time frame is known.
So again, why would you schedule a showcase at that time unless you were specifically trying to compete with those events?

This is hosted by the RI Thunder and is well attened by both teams and coaches-usually end of July/beginning of August) I guess some don't want to go to any form of Nationals?

Who schedules a showcase at the same time as the national tournaments?

Dare I say...thats what happens when you wait to post your dates for PGF...
These national showcases are the real deal and if your not preparing YOUR national event, no matter what it is, 12-14 months ahead of time...you behind everyone else...

Well NONE of you were here in Atlanta last night. And I myself did not make the dates for Legacy. Matter of fact we are not going to the Legacy now and will in fact go to PGF since we earned a berth. But is was plain as day what the 14/16 schedule was. Draw on Saturday and begin pools Sunday. Start brax on Tuesday and Ship scheduled for Friday. IMO the PGF 14/16 in the same week will be the biggest exposure in the country. We all know that the 2015's and 2016's are the new hot commodity. I just thought it was bad timing on both parts. But as I said we will be back in SoCal.
