Pick up player elegiblity

Questions and discussions involving PGF

by Rotatorcuff » Thu Jun 27, 2013 1:35 pm

Hi,

Can a 16U eligible player pick up with a 16U team if they have played in 18U qualifier?

DD's team did not qualify at 18's, can DD pickup on 16U team?

No they cannot play down once you were rostered on a 18U team. You can play up but you can't play down. What position :)

what if said player is on an invited team roster and has not Played in any PGF qualifying event. Can they then move to a lower division if released?

From the rules for releases: The release must adhere to all other PGF Rules as to age-group movement.

I doubt the fact it is from an invited roster makes a difference. Perhaps jmo can post an official response for you.

I'm not sure what point you're making. They have to freeze rosters of invited teams and ones with returning berths at some point since they won't be playing any qualifiers. If the roster wasn't frozen, they wouldn't need a release, right?

A player may leave a roster from either a PGF Qualified or PGF Invited team WITH a release from the former coach only.

A PGF registered player cannot move down in age divisions no matter what.

thanks JMO. It makes intuitive sense, but...
your website says "Played" in qualifier at higher division. So just wanted to double check .

Thanks for quick response

Why would a coach not release a player?

These are those coaches that will say "We love your kid, and we would do anything for them."
These are the same coaches that will tell you that "we can get kids signed from the bench"
These are the coaches that carry 20plus kids on their roster.
These are the coaches that will burn, tear down, say and do anything to win, no matter the coast.
These are the coaches that will use half of their 20 plus roster as collateral damage.
Unfortunately they are never called out because, they still carry decent parents and wonderful players.
Be aware they are out there.
