Participants in the 60-team field will be selected and assigned to regional sites when the championship bracket is announced on Monday, May 7. Automatic qualifiers (conference champions) will receive 41 of the 60 berths, independent institutions will receive two bids, and the remaining 17 berths are awarded at-large by the Division III Softball Committee.
The double-elimination regional tournaments will begin May 10 for eight-team regional sites and May 11 for six-team sites. Regional sites are UT-Tyler, TX; Alma, Mich., Pella, Iowa, Amherst, Mass, Newport News, Va., Willimantic, Conn., Bloomington, Ill., and Union, N.J.
