For those DD's playing in college- what are they doing this summer?

My DD has an internship this summer that includes weekend- so no TB/softball for the first time since 2004

My DD will be a freshman in the fall. She plans on chilling and traveling ( not softball ) this summer. She received her work out book from the school for training during the summer. She thought it would be small and not a book size. Wife was just laughing. I think that will be her job this summer, just training. It's nice that the coach told her she perfers the girls to take summer off and recoupe.

What will my daughter be doing this summer? Sleeping with her boyfriend. I'm certain that she will be doing it to get ready for next softball season.

I hope she will keep doing what most great players do during the off season. She will take a break. Then start working on parts of her game she thinks are her weakest. Then when the off season starts to wind down she will work on her overall game.
She will not play games , Instead she will focus on her individual progress and enjoying alot of time off.

Wow! I am sorry I totaly dissagree with this Freshman off season regime. Chilling and traveling are fine as long as it includes getting ready for your first practice at your new college softball field, coaches and players.
Because if you think that everybody else is going to be spending the summer chillin and not working on getting better. you are going to be in for a rude awakening. Thats the worst thing you could do. This is when it matters in softball. You have reached college ball this aint 10 ,12's or 14's where it doesn't really matter what you did in the off season.
This is the Show for girls softball this is when you need to come in at the top of your game or you might be sitting watching the girls who take it serious getting the play time.
If you start in a hole you can't get anywhere until you first dig your way out.

Resting, strength & conditioning, hitting and playing in the Canada Cup..... resting some more, going to the Lake & the Beach..... and hanging out with her old buddies.

Blind Squirrel... it's a bit late now but an optional parenting techinque is the remind any potential boyfriend that "I don't mind going back to prison". Doing this at your reloading bench also helps with, of course, assorted used targets on the wall...

Regardless, DD is working an intern job for a medical device company (yoo hoo!), chilling with friends and working out about 5 days a week. She realizes that "staying in shape" is better than "getting into shape"...

He's a defensive end on the football team. Though somewhat undersized, he is pretty quick/fast and if the first shot was off, I'd find it a bit uncomfortable walking around with a football up my a$$. Actually, he's a good guy and in fact he and my kid are coming to stay at our house for a week or so later this summer.

Thanx for the advise. The funny part is my kid has told him about some arrests I enjoyed in the old days. Not surprisingly, given where he grew up, he was undeterred.

BTW, when we were last up there we opened Uncle Phil's locker in the football locker room. Thought about putting a pair of adidas in there with his name on them.
