Better Competition

Everything you want to know about the greatest game

Was talking with some other Dads over the past few games and the the general consensus is that the level of competition at the Div III level has improved dramatically. Many of the senior parents really thought they saw a dramatic rise in play. We were trying to figure out why?

1) Some suggested it was a by product of the ever growing number of travel teams(at least here in the northeast.)

2) Some figured it was due to the ever larger number of California players forgoing the Div I route to play at some smaller "elite" Northeast Div III schools

3) Some thought that many Div I calibre players were choosing smaller schools

Maybe it is a result of the level of play and the overall number of good players increasing. Are others seeing the same thing- What about at DII or DIII? Would love to hear what others think.

I agree with all three points. Let me add a fourth.

Late bloomers - if a non pitcher develops late as a junior she will not be on any D1 radar as they are working on kids two years younger . These kids end up falling to the elite northeast D3 schools if they have the grades.

the only exception is probably IVY as they are locking kids in junior year
