Just a couple of questions after following them all year:

1. Is UofA with 16 losses going to be dropped out of the top 25?

2. Is UofA going to qualify for the Tournament?

3. Is UofA going to be swept for the remainder of the season?

4. Is this the worst year ever under Mike Candrea?

Looking at Stats and knowing the asst. coaches have changed, here are a couple of things that stand out. I started with 2009 as I believe 2011 was the year they started using the Mizuno Bat. 2011 is the year without Pitching Coach Teresa Wilson and this year without Coach Ray. Thinking the biggest changes I see are the Coaching Staff, Bat Manufacturer, and Fowler being redshirted. May finish the year with a record of 29/27 and that's not a UofA Season, so is it Coaching, recruiting, bat manufacturer, lack of pitching, or 30% reduction in HR Totals. This year could be worse than +30% as they need to hit 30+ homeruns over the last 13 games or we could see a 50% reduction in homeruns since 2009/2010 (may be time to switch to demarini or worth)...

Team Stats ------2009-------------2010----------2011----------2012-----------2013
Homeruns-----------134----------------107-------------78--------------80---------------43
ERA-----------------2.98----------------2.19-----------2.95-----------2.94--------------3.65
Fielding-------------.969----------------.972-----------.969-----------.977--------------.968
Record-------------46/17--------------52/14----------43/17----------38/19------------27/16(13gm rem)

Changing bats wont help as they wont be as hot as the bats they used in 2009 and 2010 (just ask Hawaii). You can credit the bats for the HR totals in 2009 and 2010, but that playing field is now level. Hanging your hopes on the arm of one kid who had arm problems in HS is certainly part of it.

At least Hawaii switched to one of the better bat Manufactures "Easton", they are definetly having a decent year on HR totals in comparison to those using a Mizuno. lol
Hawaii 56 HR's -Easton
Wash. 42 Hr's-Mizuno
UofA 43 Hr's-Mizuno

UofA swept by Oregon, dont want to look it up, but has UofA beat a top 25 team this season, besides beating Cal?
I'm going to have to agree, they will not win a series the remainder of the season and may not win anothe game!! How imbarassing for the program and the girls that have worked so hard to get there, to only realize there is no Pitching and I dont see any coming in the next couple of years. Hopefully after a redshirt year, Fowler can go 30 and 0 next year, othewise UofA will be a cellar dweller for the next 4 years. That Sucks!!!!

Age-old question - would you rather play on a mediocre team or sit on a contender? Some people will view it as an opportunity to play. Others may have trouble finding a better opportunity at this point.

According to D1 Verbal List on UCS:
2013 (signed): Mo Mercado, Michelle Floyd, Katyiana Mauga, Eva Watson, Lauren Johnson
2014: Patricia Parks
2015: Alyssa Palomino, Tamara Statman, Hillary Edior, Justin Garganese
2016: Malia Martinez, Emma Bordenkecher
