Everything you want to know about the greatest game

Read the following description of UCLA win over UCSB, where they gave RP a save in an 8-3 win. Is that right? How much lead must there be before its not a save?

#16 UCLA def UC Santa Barbara 8-3
WP Paige McDuffie LP Shelby Wisdom S Jessica Hall. Bruins loaded bases, LaRosa scored on Hall’s sac fly, but left bases loaded. Bates drove in 2 runs UCLA 2nd. UCSB tied top 3rd on Wisdom’s 3-run homer. Bruins went back on top in 4th on Carda’s 2-run shot. Bruins pulled away with 3 runs in 5th, Carda 2-run single, Hall rbi single. 8-3. UCLA 31-15. UCSB 26-20.
Ladies, if a man tells you he will fix it, he will fix it. There is no reason to remind him about it every six months.

14.29.8 Save.
A pitcher must meet all three of the following conditions to be credited with a save:
14.29.8.1 She is the last pitcher in the win.

14.29.8.2 She is not the winning pitcher.

14.29.8.3 She meets one of the following conditions:
14.29.8.3.1 She enters the game with a lead of not more than three runs and pitches for at least one inning.
14.29.8.3.2 She pitches effectively for at least three innings.
14.29.8.3.3 She enters the game with the potential tying run on base, at bat or on deck.

Hall entered the game in the 5th inning with a runner on 1B, no outs and UCLA up 5-3. She met all the conditions for a Save.

Starter went 61/3, left up 6-1, next pitcher got one out but got in trouble and before you know it it is 6-4 with runners on 2nd and 3rd. Starter comes back in and finishes game.

I saw a HS award a save for pitching the last inning with a 15 run lead! :o HS stats...

Classic but in our case all criteria were met other than the fact you can't have both. I wonder if the NCAA rules are the same as others.

Both ATEC (NFCA) and NFHS also say winning pitcher can't also get a save. ASA doesn't cover saves.
