LOL - true enough. It's a great rivalry, As they say, "Amherst - where getting beat by WIlliams is a time honored tradition"

Sadly, though, Williams lost a tough one and is out of the tourney. Hope they make it back next year - it was a lot of fun...

Well my beef is a mute point now but I thought the regional with UT Tyler and ETBU was tough as that has two top 6 ranked teams in final NFCA poll. Winner of that regional then was to play Linfield, ranked #2, in SR; however, Linfield didn't win.
Also, not sure if they won or not but had potential to have NFCA ranked teams #4 and #5 to play each other in SR. So of the teams ranked 2,3,4,5, and 6 in final NFCA poll, only 2 could make it to World Series.
Finally, based on the brackets, you are guaranteed to have one team at the World Series who was either ranked no higher than #15 or completely unranked.

I looked at the D2 bracket and it was a joke as well. Teams were seeded in regionals based on ZIP code. May have always been this way I am just seeing it.

I just thought NCAA would care to have a better representation of top teams at their World Series. Just my opinion.

The National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III Top 25 Poll is voted on by eight NCAA Division III head coaches representing the eight NCAA regions. Records as of Monday are listed, with first-place votes in parentheses

The Division III tournament is regional by nature- teams rarely play other teams outside their regions(except at spring training) and the NFCA poll is also very regional- as you can see by the above quotel. There will be more tournament sites in the Northeast due to the concetration of schools there. Conference champions are even more imprtant since there are only 19 at-large bids at DIIi.Budgets are small- tournaments tend to be closer to home. Team that finished second in the WCWS(diii) was not even ranked until the last poll

Its a shame that NCAA will not fund it properly. I did notice that in D3 baseball that the Linfield regional had 2 teams from Texas, one from CA and one from Wis. Appears their travel budget might be a bit more.

The regionalization of the DIII NCAA tourney will probably remain for the forseeable future. Do not hold too much stock in the national polls- the DIII polls are notoriously inacurate and can change dramatically week to week. Also, the member schools like have the regional tournaments-regional. It is rare for even at- large teams to have to travel too far. As far as not funding properly- not sure the schools would agree with you

I find it odd that half (8) of the regional hosts were at-large teams.

"WCWS(diii)" No such thing.

Division III Championships(was that really needed/)

Many teams are unable or unwilling to host because their facilities are not up to NCAA championship standards(ie Tufts)- happens at all levels

Last year Babson hosted the regional NCAA and was an at-large. Often the NCAA is scrambling to find host sites at the end of the season

Of course it was needed. There is no such event as a DIII WCWS or a DII WCWS.
