Why no UC Irvine softball program?

Everything you want to know about the greatest game

Anyone know why UC Irvine doesn't have a softball program?

It would seem like a perfect place for one to me.

Cause they are to worried about making sure the AMERICAN flag is taking down as far as the eye can see!

USC just had an Athletic Board Vote on Softball or Womens Lacross & they voted to bring in Womens Lacross next year.

Softball will be back on the table next year for a vote I have been told.

No excuse... I would imagine the landscape of recruiting would change dramatically especially for UCLA. The era of recruiting dominance would end immediately.

Then the remaining Pac12 schools would need to upgrade cause SEC $$$ are now in their conference. Just bigtime! I've heard the same about the possible beginning 2019 season. New facilities near the Collisium/Sport Arena as they signed a 100 year land right lease about a year ago.

USC not having a program is a shame and I am interested in hearing thoughts on why they don't have a program.

However, I would also appreciate if anyone who has knowledge could explain or at least speculate intelligently why UC Irvine does not.

Thanks

I heard Irvine is going to start a program in in 2018? Not positive though. I was told that when I was there on a visit with my son by a kid that worked in the ark building.

It seems like admission standards are out of sorts at Irvine.

41% Asian
24% Hispanic
14% White
12% Non-resident Aliens
2% Black

Thanks oufan and ATWT for your responses.

ATWT, how do you think the ethic diversity there affects them getting a team?

TB33, do you think their liberal ways have an adverse effect on what sports they choose?

Not disagreeing, just asking. Personally I would have loved to see my daughter play for a D1 program so close to me here in north San Diego county. Their baseball program is very good.
