My Daughter had internships her sophomore and junior summers- also had fall internships at the same company Junior and Senior year. They give the student a chance to try-out the companies and positions the "dream" of to see if it is what they want. It also helps to build connections and an "in" at a company. My daughter wound up working at the company she interned at.
Thats called 'experience' and a dash of networking...
Face it, in a lot of cases its not what you know, its who you know...
But in most cases, a person must be qualified, via a sometimes useless piece of paper, that cost $100K+/- to possess called a degree...to even apply...
BUT that doesn't mean just a piece of paper will get you a career...had a gal at a McDs Drive up window tell me she had a BS degree in humanities...but couldn't find a job in her 'career field' (I'll spare you my response...which I didnt tell her 'cause I didn't want the 'special' hamburger...)
Like I said, I don't care what degree they seek as long as it it ends in a 3 letter word...JOB
