Morons

Everything you want to know about the greatest game

by Sam » Fri May 26, 2017 8:40 pm

Does anyone else find the idiocy in the UCLA/Ole Miss softball coaches throwing their pitchers 232. & 190+ pitches in their game yesterday? Unfu*cking believable. Mike Smith used to coach at Cal Baptist and throw Tori Fierro quite a bit but one would think that Taryn Mowatt would have provided a voice of reason. On the other side, I guess you'd make the argument that Lisa Fernandez is tainted by the old softball myths about the motion being different than baseball and doing no harm to the kid's arm since she was from that era.

I hope that the pitchers involved are OK. They may not feel the effects now, but they will likely feel them in the future. The coaches are self serving morons, using these kids for their own "professional" glory. They taint the real professionals who look past the instant gratification of a win towards the long term well being of their players.

The real testament to the idiocy is that they weren't really pitching that well. 15 runs scored in 22 innings of work.

No one is forcing anyone from doing anything. Everyone involved are consenting adults

Who said anybody was forced into doing anything? The players are taught from day one at 8U to tough it out. It's up to the coaches to prevent injuries, not cause them.

They are competitors, everything has a price, especially at this elite level. These adult players are well aware of the risks and their limitations, they are not 14 years old.

Amazing what softball parents think is normal. A college baseball parent would fistfight a coach for throwing their kid 120 pitches. Are baseball players any less elite? Are they less competitive? Not a good argument DD.

Please don't make the baseball/softball straw man comparison. Absolutely different arm/shoulder motions, you know that.

Probably true for every sport in big conference D1, not just a softball thing. Players to read the invisible ink on that D1 NLI

Another myth that is being debunked with more current studies. The physical loads ar pitch release are similar to baseball.

Loads on the elbow as in baseball? No. On the rotator cuff? No. You are right, the only thing similar is pitch release, possibly.

People look at your posts believing that you know what you are talking about. You know nothing about this subject but are espousing a very dangerous opinion.

Google "baseball vs softball pitching injuries" and find one study that states what you are saying.

Great article on a site called lohud.com
