tjbd I've stuck my foot in my mouth plenty of times in my life & probably will continue to do so as I am only human.

The Darkside? you gotta be kidding right? Do you live in a comic strip ? Obviously you don't live in the real world, or perhaps you din't watch TV, go to movies or read advertisements in any newspaper, magazine, periodical or whatever.

Either that or you're so in denial of your life, that your the biggest type hypocrite walking the planet, on par with public figures who are married & criticize Gays when in fact they are "in the closet" or "on the down low" A Pathetic poser

Well, from an advertisement perspective, the ad has worked, it has helped promote the product. Madmen couldn't have done a better job.

Does anyone remember when TheGluv first came out? I was the one delivering door to door to get the product out.
The add even had "sexy" in it. Man this seemed like a long time ago. We actually had to explain the involvement of the only model at the time, and how the design came into being. Even made a personal trip to Luther to deliver some pants and get the Gluv name out there. During that first year, trying to explain about the fit of these new pants, and how it was supposed to make the girls feel about wearing them, and how that could be translated on to the field. Feel good, Play good.
I had been with TheGluv since it's early days, even met with HeyBucket in my garage to discuss about them promoting us.
I'm not with TheGluv in that capacity anymore, but being there from the beginning, and seeing what it is today is amazing in itself. When I would mention Gluv pants, parents would say "huh" and the usual reply was, you know the pant with the G on the back.. So I can see where " We are behind you all the Way" could be construed. One thing that I do know, is this, The girls love the pants, 99% love them, not everyone but the majority of players that have worn them, love them.
I was fortunate enough to been given a dealership when i left being a rep, and I've been able to assist coaches, parents and players whenever possible. I know this thread was about the add, but it also gave me a platform to say Thank you, to all of you i've had the pleasure of working with as a Rep and now as a dealer.

BAM, you do work hard for the growth of the sport...Its not like you're scaring Bill Gates with the fortune you're making ;) You got WAY to kind of a heart to rip any one off...and we know that,
Im glad to call your and your girls 'family'...T counts as a 'girl' ;) ...even to include washing down your batting facility FOR FREE!!! (Cant beat 4 inches of water...)

In no way is that ad offensive...

Somebody can make something over nothing...usually for their own agenda...This is a sport where men and young ladies work together, usually fathers with daughters...and honestly, when I'm around ...They're ALL my daughters...every one of them...if I saw someone doing something I felt was 'wrong' around ANY player...and I may get my ass whipped, but I will stand up for ANY kid...
Are there perv's around?...Yep...Being able to discern and avoid them is what you teach kids...

As far as 'shielding' a kid from everything that can even be REMOTELY suggestive is childish and IMHO stupid...
Ive taught mine what is 'right' and what is 'wrong' but more importantly WHY...
Explaining to them why certain things, such as drugs, language, actions etc are bad...Not just SAYING "OOOoo, thats bad..."
Its more like..."We don't do that, because...."
Kids are gonna be subjected to everything in life...I'd rather one of us, as in GREAT parents give them the 'How to' on things...vs what they learn from other kids or worse...
That's what 'grown ups' are supposed to do...not try to cover up and hide whats in plain view...

Remember in the service, you go TDY or something and see a sign that said these places, areas etc are 'OFF LIMITS"...? Which was usually the 1st place we'd go just to see why...BUT if they came with...WHY they're bad, we didn't go there...

The Gluv doesn't deserve any 'flak' for that ad..

Yes; Chris I did have the pleasure of meeting you when you dropped off some pants and items for my DD. As you can see; I am not against the product or the people who run the company. I think they make a great product that my daughter really likes.

The ad though and the lack of response I think will alienate some customers as it seems to be giving the wrong impression by some.

As you said; Gluv has had great growth without putting up controversial ads of young ladies. I would like to see them continue on the path that made them successful instead of starting to alienate customers.

Hey Luther,
Sorry don't know why Quote button on this computer ( work ) won't work.
I agree with you. I'm sure they are working on a new add campaign. This last one probably sounded great
at the time, and didn't look at it at all the different ways it could be meant. Maybe a little scholarship program to give back to the sport.
Anyway, Like everything, it's a learning experience. We/they started off with sexy and ended up with empowerment..
Thanks

Luther I didn't look at that ad when it was sent to me as being bad.

I don't like the fact that it bothers you.

I just called the owner of the Gluv and told him what you said. He said he will send me a new ad.

Luther It's your opinion and I respect that. No reason to crucify Luther. Lets move on

I hope this doesn't open a can of worms :)

There's only one thing to do if it does - take them and go fishing!

I like your thinking :)
