Slappersdad:

Thank you for stepping up and sharing with the group your family's real time experience and the associated offers and costs. from what you've written, your DD's offer of athletic, academic and outside scholarship/grant funding will cover her cost of education, at least for year 1.

As a follow-up question on your DD's academics:

1. What is her approximate GPA and class rank?
2. SAT/ACT scores?
3. Public or private high school?

While the academic scholarship dollars are individual to every institution, having an idea of where a student needs to be academically to receive aid is greatly appreciated.

3'sDad:

My DD's specifics are:
Sat 1590
ACT 24
Class rank 92 out of 970
GPA 3.85 cumulative through her Junior Year

Public Cal State school.

All monies except the athletic money is for 4 years (dependent on keeping the grades at the expected level). The athletics money could go up to $5,000.00 year to year based on performance and need.

Again, hope this information helps shed some light on real world recruiting.

The grades that Slappers Dad posted unfortunately would be on the low end(my daughter's are nearly identical) for the better academic shools here in the east- and I am not even talking ivy

Patriot League in Div I and NESAC Div III. Even low for some of the Big East schools. Better Grades and test scores open HUGE opportunities

For those with younger daughters, make sure they hit the books!

The Patriot League and NESAC would certainly be on the high end academically and a 1500-1600 SAT probably won't cut it there. So if you can get in via softball great for your DD. You are also talking about institutions that exceed 50K per year so getting in is only half the answer.

What I don't get is all of these kids with 3.7-3.9 GPA's and average 1500-1600 SAT's, I'm not sure what that says about our high school grading systems.
