Questions and Discussions Regarding the College Recruiting process

by Sportdad » Mon Oct 04, 2010 2:28 pm

When is a good age to have a skill video done for a future college softball player? Who does them? What is the price range? How valuable are they in the recruiting process?
Any feedback would be appreciated.

We did ours last spring at the end of DD's soph year in HS. Smaller schools are asking for it more than bigger schools - maybe due to smaller travel budgets? or just reflects our focus on smaller programs. We hired a local videographer to do it, which was both good and bad - he had great equipment and was a whiz with editing and producing it, but he had no prior experience shooting softball videos so we had to script it and coach him and it took a couple of tries before we got what we wanted. All in, cost about $250.

Don't know where you live, but if you have to work with someone who hasn't done this before, it's worth the time to look at a bunch of them on You-Tube to get a good feel for what you want to do. Also, although I haven't worked the person recommended by NumeroUno, you will find some of his vids out on You-Tube - they are really good IMO

If you're in the Southeast I recommend Stu Ullrich at RecruitMeNow. Also, good product at a very fair price.
