Imagine how the student/athletes at the service academies multi-task to prepare for their classes and sports.
Unless I'm mistaken, only West Point has softball as a varsity sport, at Navy and the AF its a club sport.
That aside, we had the chance to visit West Point and meet the coaches this fall. I was truly blown away by the quality of the facilities, and the campus as a whole. The coaches were equally impressive. The daily schedule is rigorous but probably not much more so than other competitive D1s and being an athlete at WP does entitle you to a few small perks relative to other cadets. One thing I really liked is that you eat dinner every night with your teammates.
If only I could get DD a bit more interested. You get a free, world class education, D1 ball, and a guaranteed job when you get out with a darn good retirement plan.
