So you can do what...punch him out at the softball field? That would be really awesome parenting!

Why don't you try taking what SBJ says with a grain of salt. Believe me, the rest of us do.

exactly,

Skarp don't you take everyone on here with a grain of salt?

Unless they say something bad about me...then I want to punch them out. ;)

What's the EVIDENCE on this guy that has everyone predisposed to run him out of town, and be so certain this isn't some case of a pissed-off former player who didn't get a college scholarship at UCLA and had to settle for Fresno State? I agree it's not the same standard at the ballpark on the weekend as in a court of law, but is it possible that TNL knows something we don't know about the validity of these charges? A District Attorney can put anything he wants to in court papers. Remember Duke?

I just mean that if he has so many supporters, let them go to him privately. That would be up to those families.

I personally wouldn't let my DD near anyone that I am the least bit suspicious of.

Texasfastpitch, I will try to reply because I am posting at the same time others are. It was reported that there are text messages between the adult and the minor.

The Duke case was an anomaly. When charges are filed it's generally a good indication that there are at least substantial grounds for suspicion. And my understanding is that there were text messages exchanged that confirm the existence of a sexual relationship. There's also apparently evidence that she isn't the only player he's had intimate relations with. She's a minor and he's twice her age. I think that's enough to revoke his invitation to the team sleepover.

Why do you think the Duke case was an anomaly? But if they have text messages and multiple victims, that sounds like where there's smoke . . .

Sam/Donnie,

I can see that choice being made in a Friendly, but would you make that same decision up in Fresno?

Fresno isn't a qualifier for anything...so.....yes. I would also lodge a formal complaint with SoCal ASA to hopefully preclude his attendance at SoCal State. Frankly, I'm surprised that anybody is playing them right now.

The police believe that this guy had a sexual relationship with one of his juvenile players. It is also not the first complaint regarding this same behavior. So, as a manager, would you put your team on the field when you know this person is watching your little girls? If he likes 16 or 17 year olds, its not a great big jump to 14 and 15 year olds....after all, a 17 year old got him into trouble.

I wouldn't do it.

36sDad

Could you give us some insight on the decision to continue playing on TNL while charges are being brought against this guy? Would'nt you side on caution with your DD?

If the suspect is going to be around then I am finding somewhere else for my DD to play.

Now who said anything about punching anybody out? Typical of bloggers with too much time on their hands. Proving my point. You start up a sh*tstorm over something that wasn't said. I merely would like most of you armchair judges and juries to stop hiding behind your monitors and have the "COURAGE" to express your thoughts in person. Oh and as far if he is guilty then he should go to jail just like any other criminal. But unlike the rest of you soccer moms and glory days dads/coaches I'm not a drop-offseeyouafterpracticegetsdonebecauseimgoingshoppingorgoingtohaveabeerwiththeguysandtalkaboutthegoodolddays type of parent. I'm at every practice, game, function when it comes to my dd. My problem w/ softballjerk is not w/ his/her views on Chris Facione, my beef is his attack on my parenting skills and views. See you at the field.......or not. 36sdad

Because it was an anomaly. A high-profile anomaly. Hey, I'm not saying that every charge is correctly filed, but any normal D.A. is going to evaluate the evidence and file charges based on what crimes there is a reasonable chance of proving. Do they sometimes get overzealous? Yes. Do they sometimes misjudge the quality of the evidence? Again, yes. But normally when charges are filed it means that a person who makes his living judging such things deems the evidence sufficient to warrant them. Obviously it still has to be proven, but in the interim that should be enough to justify keeping him away from the players.

lol...sh*tstorms are my specialty. Thanks for noticing.

Oh, and just curious...how does expressing our thoughts to you in person constitute "COURAGE" if there isn't some kind of implied threat operating there? And nothing personal (cuz I wouldn't want to get decked), but from what I've heard out of you so far I wouldn't walk across a room to get your reaction to my opinion, let alone drive down to the ghetto to have the benign little chat you apparently think you're entitled to. SBJ might though.

Now don't you have a practice/game/function/prom/dental appointment/barbie doll convention to scurry off to? The rest of us will be right here shirking our parental duties when you get back.

Cheers!
