My DD went to the camp and was in group D.
She ran into girls from Tulsa Elite and Austin Stars she had picked up with and enjoyed meeting seeing some old friends.

session 1 @ 11:30 was hitting
She learned a few new things and enjoyed the time she talking with the coaches.

session 2 @ 1:00 fielding
It started raining right after they went outside and moved in doors. It was her least favorite part of the camp

session 3 @ 2:30 live hitting and pitching
This was her favorite. She enjoyed her conversation with Coach Bargfeldt of University of Tulsa. She had a blast hitting with Coach Kolze of University of Pacific.

Overall my DD had a great time at this camp because of the interaction she had with the college coaches.

My DD went to this camp wanting to meet the coaches and she accomplished this.
Overall I did get my $125 worth because my DD was happy and talked to me all the way home about her conversations with the coaches.

It continues to amaze me that people are so critical of anyone that tries to do something new or out of the ordinary. I would like to follow some of these people around and criticize their daily activities. Nothing comes off without a hitch, but then again if you never do anything but criticize you wouldn't know that.

$125 x 200 - $25,000 wow that some serious cash for a day camp. I was thinking about taking my DD to this camp but I felt it was to expensive and would be a bit overcrowded.

Manny Meza is "the girls in the black Mizuno shirts" hitting coach. He is a wonderful coach who truly cares about the girls and the game and not just the all mighty buck. His info in also on VTD.

Apparently Coach Meza cares enough to make $840 a week off of 28 families, including 11 of 12 Team Mizuno players. According to his last post on VTD, he can care for 12 more kids. I know a lot of travel coaches who don't care that much.

Did you know that the lessons he gives is the only means of income that he has?

BTW he charges Team Mizuno players only $20.00 each for an entire hour. Where are you going to find that? Unheard of. $30.00 for non members for an entire hour?

And if it nets your daughter a free education, don't you think it's worth it?

Remember nothing is free in this world....not even the bottle of water you get at the hotel.

It's people like you that drive away someone that tries to improve the sport of softball that our girls love to play.

Hey I heard that they cut players from the Team Mizuno, you sound like the parent of one???
I didn't go to the camp, my DD wanted the time off so we are doing some traveling instead, but I talked to one or my good friends that took their DD and was in the A group and said that she was impressed with the Mizuno team. She also said that she was standing next to the Florida coach and a couple of other college coaches and they mentioned #13 and #4 from that team as having a killer swing!! Her DD plays 12u and told me she will be watching out to see how good these girls are.

Once again, good stuff heard from this team, at first if you read my posts I bashed quite a bit because I didn't really know who they were and didn't really care, but more power to this Meza hitting coach...don't be surprised if I give him a call if my DD struggles with her hitting...$30 good price!!

Onemore...deal with it that your kid wasn't good enough, look for a better match for her and don't come on here trying to bash someone for charging for lessons...past I heard that was actually NORMAL!!!

Seriously folks, you sound like the 10u team you are. No one faults Meza for charging for lessons or doubts your kids' ability . . . it's that your HB posts are so self-serving and you sound like you think you're the only ones doing what you are doing.

We are sure Meza cares for his kids . . . . but so do a ton of other travel coaches . . . . and yeh, more than a few do it for nothing. . . . especially at 10u.

Take some advice and give HB a rest for a while. If people like what they see on the field, in the stands, in the dugouts, and at camps, you're program will be fine.

Onemore....don't get your panties up in a bunch!! Besides, HB is compiled of parents old and new, so there will always be plugs for their DD's teams and there will always be defensive posts for them as well when they are being attacked! It's the nature of the site, where have you been??

Besides, the way I took it was a coach giving props to her fellow coach, you are the one that came back with how much the guy makes and what not!! What's it to you anyway??

I do agree with you that the best and more powerful talk happens out on the dirt, then there are no doubts!! So we will see what happens out there this spring!! It will be interesting to watch for sure...too bad my DD is not in the 12u age group (not 10u, I think these girls make up the older team!)

I'm sorry Onedown for giving props where they are due but this post was not for you. It was for the serious softball parents, coaches, and the most important ones, the kids. It wasnt for the ones who continue to hide behind a computer and make stupid comments on things he or she knows nothing about. There are many wonderful coaches in the DFW area and I am just stating that Manny is one of them. So from now on if you want to run down any of our coaches on the 98 Team Mizuno team you can start with me because I DO NOT HIDE from anyone and if I have something to say, I say it and always leave my name! Have a great New Year!!
