Seems the good old boy network is alive and well in VTD. Our team just got bumped from its third VTD tournament. Sent checks in over a month in advance, VTD website shows room in the tournament. (Ex. taking 24 teams, 19 approved). A day or two later other teams were approved. Big organizations of course. When we called the TDs they said they were holding checks and waiting for these teams to complete their registration or that they had sent their checks in before our team. Are teams going to have to float money out two or three months to get in one of these VTD tournaments? The other thing we are hearing is that VTD does not have enough umpires to cover all of their tournaments??? It seems to me that you would approve the teams that were properly registered and sent in their money? Anyone else having these types of problems?
Seems like an opportunity for ASA but there is not many ASA tournaments posted for ASA parks??

Doug

This sounds like a great problem??? For VTD! :D

Their tournaments are in such high demand that there are waiting lists for virtually all those VTD parks. This isn't a new problem either. Some parks are more popular than others and some (VTD, ASA or whatever) will fill up fast. Remedy? Send in your check early. None of these TDs will cash them before the tournament and all allow you to drop a week out.

I know from talking to Tuggey in Southlake that NRH, Keller, SL and a few others close by, will move to a new format that eliminates Friday night play, finishes earlier Saturday night, and finishes at a reasonable hour Sunday. Because of this, they will limit team registration to about 20 or 21 teams per tournament. A more family friendly format if you will, with 5-6 games guaranteed, then a mini-bracket on Sunday. These changes will reduce the number of teams for a given weekend...soooo, send in your check early.

I don't know of any umpire problems in Tarrant. Oscar Ross in NE Tarrant will follow the money and right now it's in Keller and NRH this weekend. Marcus (Mansfield and Grapevine) will do VTD and ASA. Dallas umpires??? Sounds like they may be having some problems with VTD, but we'll see how long they can go without a paycheck.

There are ASA tournaments. You have to got to Register ASA to find them. And YES it is hard to navigate. BUT if you know of associations that are ASA and you llike to play there. Contact them or look at their Websites. They want these tournaments to make also.
I know Dallas has a website Dallasasa.com and you can see all there tournaments and when you click on it there is a hyperlink to registerasa.com to register.
Also Mansfield has all their tournaments on the tournament page on their website. http://www.mgsa.com and when you click on it takes you to the registerasa for the tournament also.
I promise you if you call or email the TD's they will do their best to help teams work it out.
I am sure that Arlington, Mesquite, Garland, Irving just to name a few are all willing to help teams that want to play at their parks.

Joe is right you need to get your money in early at certain places. ( ASA or VTD) There are certain parks that people like to play because of well run tournaments and good umpires.

The DallasASA website is a joke. You cannot pull up any tournaments. The browser just stalls.

Must be you I haven't had a problem once pulling it up. Are you using dial up?
It is alot better than trying to find them on registerasa. www.dallasasa.com has all the dfw's listed . Not sure why you are having a problem but seems to work fine for me.
