10u pitchers

I would like to add to all previous comments about the some of the pitchers talked about on this thread.

What has been said about the top 10U pitchers in the state couldn't be more accurate.

The pitcher from Anderson Express 99 is intimidating to 10U ball players for sure. She can absolutely bring it.

Sneaky Cleats has a very good pitcher that can put the ball where she wants, when she wants with velocity which makes it difficult to hit the ball hard.

There are a few teams from the Houston area that each have dominate pitchers as well. Humble Cobra's, Pearland Phantomz and TPS 99 all have what it takes.

It is now obvious that the Bombers ace is back on the bump as they have now won 2 tourneys with her back in action.

The level of pitching that will be witnessed in a few weeks at the Mizuno Invitational will be top notch to say the least. Out of the 18 teams attending, 12 of those will have total ringers on the hill which will make for the most competitive tourney of the year besides the state or national tourneys.

Out of curiousity since it is already being discussed...

Everyone seems to talk about how fast a kid throws. It seems to be the only measure of the pitcher now a days. Now I get that nothing you do will make someone who throws 35 be in the league of these girls, but how about someone in the 46-48mph range who can hit spot and has 3-4 other pitches that move. I know my daughter at that age loved a fast ball (50mph just fine) on either side of the plate especially when the girl has only a mediocre change and little to no movement on her pitches. To her that was (and is) home run city...

So is speed all that gets girls talked about or are there other factors too??? Just curious. Have only peripherally seen a few of these pitchers in action while DD plays in the older division. I know we worry more about those kids who have several controllable pitches and can drop an off speed with the skill and same movement as their fastball. That is the killer in the older divisions. As they get further up it is north and south, east and west with some off speed factored in. It has been a while, but is 10U really that speed oriented?

I know that there are others that can comment in regards to this, but my opinion from what I have seen this year is that if you have a girls that throws extremely hard and that place it up down in or out is tought to hit if she is throwing 50-55.

I have also seen plenty of pitchers that are spinning the ball really well, changing speeds really well and getting good movement.

I would venture off to say that the class of 10U pitchers is very good this year and will get better as the year progresses.

at 10u speed kills cause they're so close.

plus its fun to talk about. no one wants to hear that your curveball gets rolled to first over and over or about your changeup.

48 by the way is fast, if you can bring that and not walk people you'll roll through most teams. if you can control low 40's, in out up and down, and throw anything offspeed you'll be good too, but its easier to throw hard.

way more 10 year olds can throw hard than can control 3 pitches. a bunch of girls can get up, not many can go an inning without throwing a fastball. try it sometime just for fun. pick a poolgame and dont throw a damn fastball for as long as you can go. i know i got a couple of good pitchers that i'd have to get in a hurry.

here is an educated comment...I have seen too many 10U "great, dominant, fast pitchers, etc." crash and burn once they hit 12U. Tell us how good they are when they are in a D1 college, not at 10U.

Oklahoma Force= we owe them a loss,thats for sure!! That team can flat out hit the ball. They came back to beat us in the championship game 6-5,off of solid hitting!! You can't make mistakes against them, the parents and coaches on that team..get really into the game,make it very intense....but,its all for show...talked to a bunch of em at the store after the championship game, super nice people!! look forward to them coming back down in May as well.

Pitts23, I can assure you our intensity isn't "all for show", it is for the girls. Did you notice how dead our girls were the first 65 minutes of play and then how "alive" they were the last 5 minutes? Yes, it took us parents that long to pump them up, but it did payoff. It makes a huge difference in your players when they know they've got support behind them.

"All for Show" Meaning=they mean no bad sportsmanship by it!! That's the way it should have been received!!....Yeah, after a long sunday, those kids need lots of people keeping them up!!! Ya'll do a great job!! Needs to be alot more of that by us all, getting em' amped up is always good when theyre flat!!

I agree pitts23, Team Mizzuno have a great team, great parents and great coaches. That was a great game between us that pitcher of yours can bring the heat and that catcher can bomb the ball. Hey no hard feelings Pitts23. My husband actually took it the right way and I was the one that took it the wrong way. I guess I just have a chip on my shoulder cause most teams think we are annoying and we're just trying to be there for the girls. Thanks for clarifying and thanks for a great game. Your girls played their heart out! We will see you all in a couple of weeks!!

This past weekend in Kilgore was great-lots of good teams with good defense and pitchers. Most everyone was very pleasant and would go back again. Loved all the games we got in, which is rare in Oklahoma to have so many games(gave my team away) and beautiful weekend. Bobby did an awesome job on coordinating sooo many teams with decent game times.

As far as our parents, most of us have been together for three years(six seasons). As long as our girls continue to ask us to cheer and we can, we will. There will be a time when they won't want us there(sooo sad). Considering how much and how far we travel, you will see a lot of parent/family support. We don't play boom boxes that blow ear drums and can be heard three miles away, we don't even mock or make fun of other teams( while I have seen other teams parents do this at this weekends tournament). When we hear parents from the other team make fun of our cheers, it makes us louder. I have the utmost respect for all the girls playing this weekend because they always give it their best, even when exhausted. Every team out there gave their best and I look forward to seeing most of them in a couple of weeks. Most of us are here for our girls, and I do not wear rose colored glasses. But while this thread is about pitchers, it requires a TEAM to win games and championships, not just pitchers( my daughter is a pitcher).
