The baseball guy makes the "Infield Fly, if fair" call near the apex and then makes the final determination after the ball has landed or been touched. OBR definition actually covers the situation in question:

If a declared Infield Fly is allowed to fall untouched to the ground, and bounces foul before passing first or third base, it is a foul ball. If a declared Infield Fly falls untouched to the ground outside the baseline, and bounces fair before passing first or third base, it is an Infield Fly.

And again, were all the requirements for an IF met? You even reiterated that the ball was fair.

Apparently so and lesson learned. I was thrown off by the OP saying "pop foul" and the rule saying "fair fly ball." I know better now.

Correct answer (not listed): Live ball and fair ball. B3 and R2 are both out.

Just a note: remember, it is not possible to have a pop "foul" ball until the ball actually touches something over four territory or becomes foul by rule after landing. A ball in flight really has no fair/foul status until it contacts something including the ground. If caught, it is simply a ball caught in flight.

Yeah, those PA boys have problem with numbers. ;) :D

Just a side note that I didn't see anyone mention ... IFR does not have to be called to be in effect ...

Yeah, yeah. My bad. I thought I fixed all of the errors after editing the quiz from the other forum. Hey, you even proofread it for me! So we're both to blame. :P

Precisely. Purposely, I did not include any umpire actions in any of the questions. This is so that the reader could act as the umpire and understand the situation. Of course, in this particular situation, the umpire would be yelling "Infield Fly if Fair!" However, even if he/she did not, the IFR is still in effect, and therefore has no bearing on the question.

2 bases from position of runner at time of throw. Runner still has to go back and touch first base before advancing to 3B and home.

Does the award become third base if she goes back to first to correct her mistake?
A constitution of government, once changed from freedom, can never be restored. Liberty once lost is lost forever.

Since she was beyond 2nd base at the time of the throw (between 3B and 2B), the award is home (always 2 bases, in this case 3B and HP). She still has to retouch 2B and 1B in the reverse direction, then touch 2B, 3B, and HP in the forward direction to legally obtain her award. Otherwise, she is at risk for an appeal on a missed base or a base left too soon on a fly ball.

If the runner would have been between 2B and 1B at the time of the throw on her way back to re-tag 1B, then the award would have been 3B.
