2010 12u Teams Qualified for USA/ASA National Bloomington IN

What's on your mind?

by Dongers Army » Mon Jul 19, 2010 11:04 am

20+ teams from California. 13 teams reportedly coming from Georgia. Half of Nationals come from 2 states.

Other states represented include Texas (7), Arkansas, Oregon, Washington, Oklahoma, Missouri, Tennessee, Arizona, Florida, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Alabama, Ohio.

New York has 20 million people living and their state and no ASA softball? Michigan has 10 million folks and no registered? Colorado, North Carolina, Virginia, Mass, Maryland, Wisconsin, etc.?

Also, 88 teams entered last season ... why only 56 teams thus far?

I guess because Burlingame isn't that far from San Jose and maybe they just wanted to finish out their season in the Regional.

Seems a bit unethical to me. What about those teams they beat that "might" have done better? Their presence certainly skewed the outcome of the tournament.....

I don't see how their participation makes it unethical. They earned the berth to Regionals at their association championship. There was no manipulation on their part. It was all fair and square.

Maybe all the CA & GA have not gotten their Registrations in yet?

As of 7/16 it appears that 6 Georgia teams still need to register, half of those teams got their berth this past weekend so I'm sure the paper work is in process.

Not sure why, but out here in the NorthEast ASA just isn't as big as Pony...Finch Aces from NJ are really excited to come out and play against some new faces and teams. We had a great season out east, but after reading all these posts, ASA should be a good test. NorthEast teams seem to get no respect. We hope to earn a little this year. We are looking forward to seeing all the great talent from the year 'round states! The other option is to play all the teams we already played all season in Cary NC (Pony Nationals)...kind of boring. I kind of expect ASA to continue to get bigger here in the N/E soon.

See you all in a few weeks!

For anyone bringing a family with youngsters, if you find the time, I strongly suggest a visit to the Children's Museum of Indianapolis.
