Modesto/Stockton new organization forming.(OBS Monarchs)

by Iluvblue » Mon Jul 19, 2010 5:16 pm

Tryouts will be held for 12, 14, 16, and 18s after completion of ASA Nationals.

Aug 14 and 15.

After hearing many former players and parents complain about 17-18 player rosters, costs and many other issues, In the older ages, I have decided to take a larger role than dealing with one team.

OBS Monarchs will have 4 teams. I will be heavily involved in all teams.
If you are happy with you current situation, stay where you are. If you want something different, this might be right for you.

Rosters on 16s and 18s will have a MAXIMUM of 14 players, with no more than 3 pitchers.

12s and 14s will have a max of 13 players, but more then likely 12.
I am getting many emails asking about coaches. Coaches will not be announced until after the current season. No need to put current teams in a bad situation or cause any more turmoil than most teams are already feeling at this point.

We currently have players from Oakley, Hollister, Reno, Sacramento, Lodi. We make it work no matter the distance.

If you are interested please email Coreyreid@sbcglobal.net

Are you planning on coaching one of the teams? If so, which group?

I will be coaching both the 16s and 18s as they will be playing in the same tournaments. I will bounce between the two depending on the schedule. My current 14 team will move up into 16s. We will have tryouts for that team as well.

I will run/ the first 3 or so practices of the 12 and 14s. When the olders are off, i will be with the youngers.

Coaches will have meetings together each month to discuss all aspects of teams.

Like me or not, fact is that I have only had 2 kids leave my teams by their choice in the past 3 years. I normally start a new team in Fall and we keep that entire group together going into the Summer. We work hard with those kids during Fall and I dont like to start over in Summer.

We have great parents each season, we get along quite well, and we have no real issues. That is not luck. This is why I am going to be involved in all teams. I am going to lead/guide the coaches of the younger teams in an attempt to do something different then what is the norm in this area currently. I can promise you that some of the garbage that has happened to some local teams will not be happening with the Monarchs.

We shall see how it goes. I know there will be a lot of naysayers....... but the only way I know if I can do this is by doing it. I have been complaining about the state of things long enough.

Your heart is in the right place. I'm sure it will be a successful organiztion with highly competitve teams. The naysyers A.K.A HATERS are a relevant part of the game. They would not exist if you were losing all the time. What about a 10u team?

I have no doubt your agenda is to benefit your players and I know you have the knowledge to do exactly that the only skepticism I would have is another new organization thinning out the talent.

I agree about another organization, but in the past few years I have seen several start up and the results are........... well, not exactly great. Partly the reason I have decided to do this.

I hope people around here know that when they bring their kid our way, they will be actually learning some skills and knowledge about the game.

IN my experience around here, talent somehow manages to find each other.
