Question about B teams

What's on your mind?

I would check with your ASA comissioner on that before you go ahead with scheduling that game. Where we used to play even having a TB pitcher throw batting practice could disqualify you from ASA play.

We went through this same scenario with our local wreck (I like that!) league when we had left and took several girls to B-travel the season before.

The local rec league president tried everything he could to stop us; from practicing on the local parks dept fields, from talking to the rec parents, etc. As 10u, we did scrimmage a 12u rec team in a practice game and we smoked them. I can see where they can prevent an All Star team from scrimmaging - after all it's the league's team, but they cannot stop a TB coach from recruiting. That's just ridiculous and any TB coach that worries about it, well...

Now that being said, DQ'ing a rec player from All-Star competition may be a very real thing, but TB coaches should have nothing to worry about.

Same old story of wreck trying to deny players from moving up to TB, IMHO
Being from NorCal, what do I know anyway???

We just received an email from our district commish that was sent out to all the B managers/coaches (this was the email):

"if any of your REC league A/S teams play against Travel Ball teams they are running the risk of being deemed ineligible for Championship play. A travel ball coach tries to recruit a player , talk to REC players parents while they are playing REC ball - that travel ball coach is running the risk of being "punished" by the ASA review board. On the other side of the situation, if a travel ball coach , coaches , advises or shows a player the "correct' way of doing anything in that game - fielding , hitting , running bases etc. anything- that player is now ineligible for REC A/S play.
I suggest heavily staying away from any games or scrimmages with Travel Ball teams"
Good grief - I need to bold the the whole fricken thing!!!!!!!! What a pile of SNOT!!!!! I dont know where to start so I wont.

QUOTE: What is A/S? And are you talking about one state?
I would think that it would be good for a travel coach or team to come help a rec team, at practice. How would anyone police something like this, which I don't see as a problem?

A/S is all-stars! Trust me parents who's kids did not make the all-star team are bitter and will definately report it to the B Commish!!
