Which 14u teams are returning and predicted to do well!!

by iluvsftbl » Fri Aug 27, 2010 10:37 am

If you're still looking for that 14U team the Heat is looking for that 1 or 2 more players to take it to the next level... not sure why youre 'mixed on them not doing much', but check them out. They're coaches have been around, and they teach fundamentals and believe you need to play in your age group - Looking for Nationals in Texas in 2011. Good Luck to you all!

If Heat have same coaches the young 14u heat team from last Summer.... they are very good.

I personally said I was mixed on them doing much with Breeze 96 and Lady magic young 14s in the mix, in their own metro. Breeze 96 will probably be the stud team next year. Had a good year this year, so I can imagine they will be favorites next year. The 14u Magic should be pretty darn good for a first year 14. Heat has some talent too so maybe they can add a couple to take them over the hump. I also agree they have good coaching. So inevitably the other teams will have to play in a qualifier to get to Nationals and win that to get in, as Metros will be tough for them to get a birth, assuming Breeze 96 comes back to Sacramento metro. If I keep rambling I will really stir the pot :D

keep rambling:)

The heat coaches probably have the most experience and really know their stuff. Whether that means they will be best team or not?? Who knows.

The Breeze 96 for Fall 2010 is half of the Davis Lady Demons team from last summer, which folded. Heat 14 also lost some kids and that's why the ad is up to pick up more. Lady Magic 14s are young.

It's a new season, so you never know. Just sayin'.

Totally unbiased.

I've noticed a lot of subpar teams in NorCal are folding up. I personally like it, as it will strengthen teams out a bit more. I know, everyone needs to play somewhere. Believe me we are in no shortage of teams still. Just about everyone still needs players, its Fall. Im guessing the teams that folded for fall will be back in spring when more kids come out. To kind of end this thread my friend ended up moving his daughter to 16s so he's not looking anymore. Said he had some good offers at 16s and just moved up.

On Breeze 96 fall having half of Davis Lady Demons for fall, they must have not had some returners as that group has been together for a bit. Im guessing maybe some of them play other sports and taking fall off. To be honest, that Davis team wasnt very good, so I wouldnt be proud that they took half that team on, if thats true. If that is true, Breeze must have not liked the turnout of quality this fall.

Juts moving to 16u doesnt mean much. Our 14u team last Summer was better than 90% of the 16s last year, as were a few other 14u teams.

There were some good 16u, but just being 16u is no guarantee of playing quality ball.

Very true. I have never cared for the 16u division anyhow. Take away the competition aspect with the "showcasing", coupled with a ton of marginal teams at best, and you have a recipe for a weak division. I hate the move up to 16s for a young girl. Unless a team is showcasing at all the big so cal tourneys, its just not worth it. Showcasing at RR gold is not the same at 16s. Stockton isn't exactly attracting a ton of people to come see 16s. I know , I know, but on their list it says 75 big name coaches will be there
The name of the game is getting your kid to college so everyone just plays the game, and I get that.

It seems like a lot of the top teams will be going to 14U ESPN/Rise Premier Nationals in Orange County, rather than spending ten days in the hot and humid dust bowl known as Midland, Texas. I hope the NorCal teams will consider Premier as well.
