Plano Showcase?

Just curious how everyone thought Plano Showcase went? Coaches turnout, etc?

We had 20+ coaches at our games in total. Mostly smaller schools in TX, LA, and OK. Sunday morning at the Craig Ranch complex seemed to be lightly attended by coaches.

A little off topic, but in the hope that someone affiliated with the Craig Ranch fields is reading:

Would you please replace the American flag that was flying at the complex - it was faded and tattered badly...

We had a similar experience as far as coaches go the one about a month ago was defiantly the better of the two. How was your experience the showcase?

The weather may have had something to do with it, but a weak turnout of college coaches. Mostly junior colleges, a few Div. IIs and IIIs, and fewer still Div. Is. The only Big XII school I saw was UT. The only SEC school I saw was Ole Miss. The Elite showcases seem to be getting weaker every year with fewer big-name teams and fewer coaches.

BTW, did the NFCA pull its endorsement of the July Elite showcase and move to the Impact Gold showcase in Houston?

Considering the rain they got I think they did a real good job of getting most all of the games in. Some teams got a game knocked off, but all in all I think it was OK. I was a little concerned about the lighting at the Lyons Complex. It is not set up for fastpitch softball at night, that's for sure!!

Your assessment is spot on about the coaches who attended and the number...it was certainly a weaker attendance last year and the quality of both the schools (colleges) attending and the travel teams who attended is also down at the Elite Showcases. I talked to one team out of California that was very upset with the fact that even prior to weather being a problem the games were only scheduled for 75 minutes. They were saying that everything in California is usually 90 min of course they don't have 160 teams probably.

And to answer your question, YES the NFCA did pull it's camp in July. They are now running the endorsement camp at the Impact Gold Showcase in Houston which is held the same weekend in July. Likely that you'll see teams and college coaches pulling out of the Elite Showcase and heading south.

Now my team did make the trip out to Plano, and with all things considered I thought the Elite boys did a great job getting the tourney moved on Friday night and the games in all weekend considering the field issues they had.

I do want to say that we absolutely love playing the Texas teams. Your group of girls are always talented and respectfull. I was happy with the exposure our group got we had plenty of scouts all weekend. Yes Sunday at Craig Ranch was a little thin but so is every other showcase that isn't the main field on Sunday.

I want to thank JD and the bunch for AGAIN putting on a fantastic showcase for our California team. We flew in on early Friday afternoon and the games at Craig Ranch were cancelled. We ended up still playing Friday at Heritage with only an hour delay to our 2 scheduled games.

I also want to thank Texas Elite coaches Todd Carlson and Kelly Brock. They shared their time and experience with us all weekend. They helped with getting colleges over to our games to be sure our 2 remaining 11's got the looks they deserved. Before we left on Sunday, our two 11's and their families were already on the road for visits to 3 different schools.

Our organization is also in every Surf City Showcase in so cal. The Elite Showcase by far treats us the best.
