fish or cut bait time

What's on your mind?

by norcaldad » Thu Jun 05, 2008 8:20 pm

Hey Bucketheads keep on keepin’ on, you’all are great. As we get down to fish or cut bait time. I spend a lot of time on heybucket. reading the posts and knowing all the bucketheads are in crunch time too. Knowing most of you spend nearly all of your so called free time going to practices, friendlies, fundraising, hitting lessons, strength and conditioning, pitching, driving hundreds of miles to tournaments paying $4.25 a gallon. Working tirelessly with our kids sharpening the skill set, making sure she’s got the best gear possible to realize her dreams, working long hours to pay for all this craziness. Thank god you guys/gals are there, how do your coworkers look at you when you should try to answer their self aggrandizing my boy baseball/basketball/football stories with, my dd crushed this weekend at a tourney with national implications? Knowing all the while their bum ass/talent less kid won’t even play varsity HS ball and your gal is destine for D1 prime time. Maybe not all of you guys know that “feeling”. So feel free to bang your chests. You guys earned the right. Love the fact you guys are there making it happen. Love the petty fights. Love the mock outrage. Great support system we got here and 100% better than past alternatives. Wish I had something controversial to say to spur 79 responses but sometimes you just say what’s on your mind.

And well.. when you are done with all that chest puff stuff... shut up and eat your hot dog and let the coach coach.

Last week, I heard a stand-daddy-wannabe-coach EVERY PITCH yell at his doubtless D1 bound short stop "stop looking at the pitch call, you dont need to know the pitch".

That is stupid. Of course they need to know what pitch is called. Defensive schemes are based on what pitch is being call you moron. Who takes throws, who is cheating where... But you obviously dont know squat you 4.25 per gallon driving 100's of miles mope. Thankfully the D1 bound 18G DD ignores your dumbass.

Oh, hey I have an I idea for you Mr. and Mrs Strawhat and flipflops. Dont hurt your daughter to heckle the umpire.

Yep, many do. You know what you actually say to your very own DD stepping into the box? "Blue is calling them over the head so you better swing". I know for a fact I do not call anything close to "over the head"... but you think youre impacting me by saying this?

Then your DD, apparently who hasnt learned to tune you out, swings at 3 rise balls which were never close and K's.. I get no satisfaction out of the fact you just struck out your own girl with your stupidity. I'm sure the catcher is thankful, me I just think you are stupid.

Big mouths out there.. every team has one. Constantly saying stupid inane stuff which helps no one but is rather annoying... memorable pearls of wisdom like "keep your eye on the ball", "keep your head in there" and the ever important "swing if its a strike". The most irritating of all... "Who wants to get that out for me?" Uh.. no one. Its not your out Mr. Sit down on your bleacher seat and shut-the-f-up-thank-you-very-much. Your loud obnoxious wisdom truly adds to the game. Oh wait, no it doesnt.

And you nasty women, keep that restroom in the realm of common decency. I get sick of listening to the field crews describe your filth. The horror stories are well.. horrific. Its like a 1980's hack em up horror movie in there. Freddy Kruger live in there or what? Nasty. Take some iron pills or somethin for chrisakes. See a doctor! Mens rooms are cleaner apparently.. and thats just sad, since we pee everywhere.

DEODORANT.. thats the word of the day boys and girls. You see, that wind wafts through the stands and catches us as we are standing by 1B... bringing your fat hairy back parent stank into the field. Its a buck and some change to buy a stick. Buy some. I know gas is expensive, but you can do it.

"You dont want that one" .. on a pitch right down the middle?

Well what the hell does she want?

Oh I see, the golf one she just swung at... never mind. Guess my called strike on the one right down the middle really wasnt the one she wanted. My bad.

HEY! Take it easy, I'm just goofin around. Having fun. No offense intended!!!!

:D :P

Wade,
You go, there was smoke coming off that post. I mean that is the most honest & meaningful rant I ever heard from a blue in life. You are a different type of cat, you and a very few other blues are willing to engage the mob such as we are. Man I know you feel better now, and I feel the pain, it must be hard to hear that kind of sh$#t day in and day out, especially from the big girl parents who should have been there before. I had a chance to catch your act in stockton more than once. You are the real deal baby, are real credit to the calling. To much of a pup on the board to speak up and introduce myself. But you got some plum assignments usually reserved for the alpha dogs. Keep call'n um straight baby!

Are the women's bathrooms really that bad???? No wonder they take so long, it's grossing them out

Why do you think there is an entire row in every Rite Aid, Walgreens, CVS, etc. devoted to 'feminine hygiene'?
My God!
And the language? Even Demonboy would blush!

And Wade... that was a beaut!!!!
Pretty much ensures the "chest-thumpers" and "you go, mamas" will stay clear of this thread!
Don't worry about tomorrow. You did that yesterday.

There used to be a coach in these parts, whose DD was the starting pitcher. Sound familiar? Build the team around a so-so pitcher? Well, anyway, she would get wild and be missing the strike zone terribly. Her daddy-ball coach would yell, "Come on, Throw Stirikes." I would be smiling behind my mask, just trying to guess what DD would want to say to daddy-ball coach if she had the nerve to talk back. The look on her face said it all..... "DUHHHH, What do think I am doing here????"

Wade, that was probably the best post I have ever read. That was hilarious. I am going to print it and have it framed. I love it. Go blue!

Wade,

Always love your posts, especially when I'm guilty off some of the coaching infractions (at least I have been in the past). Printed out your last post and made my catchers, pitchers, and other coaches read it. One question for you, do you give coaches that pick their battles more weight when they question a call or ruling? Example, let's say that our team has been respectful and not questioning borderline calls (this is how everyone should be anyways) throughout the game. It's near the end of the game and a borderline call goes against us. Only this time we ask you for help from the other blue. Do you ask for help, or stick to your guns. I know that every situation is different, I'm just talking in general. Thanks

He's not going to admit to that...not if he wants to retain any credibility.

Umpires are human, but if they want to keep their holy status they have to pretend to be superhuman. And, to be sure, putting up with the garbage they put up with and yet still remaining perfectly impartial is superhuman. I'm guessing few can.
