I need to vent!! My daughter is a pitcher and she can hold her own. That has been the problem. She has been holding an entire team for two seasons. We came over to a new start up team so she could develop her pitches and get alot of innings. The first season was rough, but she got experience. We were at first unsure about the head coach and if he knew what he was doing, the assistant coached was pretty well experienced it seemed. The head caoch said he was going to go and get players to help the team. We let about five girls go and only brought in two who could play. But we did ok in the fall, maybe it was the tournaments we were in not sure. At fall's in again he said I am going to make changes, well the spring came and we let girls go and brought in girls with even less talent. So our spring/summer has been awful, yet my daughter kept plugging away. She would hold teams with no runs no hits but only to have her team provide no offense and then make an error and cost us the game. The coach begin to accuse her of losing the ball games. It finally came to head and she decided to leave.
Also along the way we lost the assistant coach who we now know was run off because he knew the head coach knew nothing of softball.
Now my daughter is filling in for the remainder of the summer for some teams and it getting herself back together. I think looking back my wife and I trusted this guy because we thought he knew what he was doing, and we went blind into somethings. But when we begin to question him this summer we were placed on the back burner and ignored by everyone on the team, by the way who are all new. After speaking with people who had left the team, we found out they all had questioned him and were sent packing. We thought we were being loyal to the team.
I suppose the lesson learned, find out and pay attention to who coaches your kids.
