Top High School Age Pitchers in Texas

by 3Bsnag » Wed Apr 20, 2011 7:21 am

I've seen all the pitchers talked about in this thread, except #27 the incoming marvel:), but this list is missing some huge names. I don't know anything about S TX high schools or if she's pitching for her school, but the pitcher I was most impressed with last summer was Paige McDuffie (ie or y?). Good speed, location, and repertoire.

We may need clarification of the "top hs age pitchers" because the ones likely to have success at the next level and the ones who are effective in hs ball can be vastly different lists.

Paige pitches for The Woodlands High School and Sudden Impact in tournament ball. They are ranked #1 in the state and the last time I checked, they were also #1 in the nation.

I have seen #27 pitch and my daughter's team played against her several times during the Spring. She is a VERY good pitcher and a good hitter also. I am sure that she will be successful at each level she pitches at in the future.

And finally, Mark is not a bad guy. Quite the opposite actually. I talked to him several times at the ballpark and he is nothing like people portray him on The Bucket.

Actually, the U stands for University. But that's okay, come for softball. Plus one for the Pac 10 over the SEC.

I think UCLA may spell "distraction." I would be mighty upset if I were an LSU fan. Actually, the NCAA needs to put an end of these nonbinding verbals. Sounds like a way to get around every rule they have in place.

In this case, the U stands for 'Underwhelmed'...as in UCLA underwhelmed with the talent in its own back yard...

Helping out a kid from Texas with Cali tax dollars? We 'preciate it...

In respose to 93Players, so your supposition is that a kid shouldn't be able to change her mind! I agree that maybe freshman being able to commit, may be a bit early for some girls. But I also feel that if a player changes their mind due to a coaching change or retirement, it shouldnt matter whether it was verbal or a signed letter, they should automatically be released if they so choose! If a kid, like Paige, who did their due diligence, picked a school based on college AND coaching staff/philosophy, and that changes then all agreements should be open for change.

Oh, and onlooker, that girl could go wherever she wanted in the country with her academics. I know she meant going to UCLA on softball scholarship!

Pancho...who cares? A good kid from Texas snapping up a free ride at a good school...in the land of fastpitch elitists? Doesn't get any better...

Our pleasure, Joe. Compared to the money we spend supporting our burgeoning illegal immigrant population, McD's schol isn't even a blip on the radar.

But one has to wonder, where was Texas in all of this? First the 'horns lose the kid to the SEC, then lose her again to the Pac 10. What's up with that? You guys broke?
