12U Spring/Summer Ranking

by GameTime23 » Tue May 03, 2011 4:09 pm

GameTime23....U12 Ranking as of 5-2-11....Memoral Day will clear things up for a few teams one way or another.

1). SMASH-Hands down #1 team and will only beat themselfes in 12's. Team will make deep run if they go to nationals.
2).Sorcerer98- Most underrated team with handfull of 99's playing. DF Champs 14's, Wilson 14's 2nd & So Cal 3rd. Little lite on pitching, but will be continue to be a top 12's team.
3).Breeze98- Loaded with talent and coaching. Will compete vs anyone. 14's went 2-2, so cal 4-2 and will move up as season goes on. Will make run at nationals.
4).D Doggs98-Straight up gamers. Have done well in tournys and force 2nd place. Will need to be top teams to move up and only time will tell.
5).Grapes RV-have played great so far in 12's and made deep run in so cal. Playing 14's will help, but will need to beat top teams to move up. RV #1 teams in 12's Grape land.
6).Hotshots-Loaded with talent. Played good in 12's & 14's so far this year, Will need to beat top 12's teams to move up or move down.
#7). Storm-Top coaching and small ball play. Have done well in tournys , but haven't played top teams yet. Only way to move up or down.
8)Grapes SN- I believe they are still good team, but rolled in so cal and now playing ussssa12's. They mighty have fallen and will they get up? I say yes, but rr memorial day doesn't help.
9).Foothill Gold- Good solid team, but peaked way too early. Seems to play down to competiton and haven't played top teams yet.
10). AASA-7-0 @ Wilson tourmy 1st place, Only been beated by Smash, Storm and another team on the season. Will Need to play and beat top 12's team to move up.

Honorable Mention:Heat98, Hype98, RR and gold99, Breeze99, Sting, Stompers

What's all the love for Lady sharks? Who and where have they played this year?

Pitchersdad99, just checked the the final bracket results at the Force and looks like 5 out of the 8 teams in the quarter finals are in Tenshuns top 10. All four teams that made it to the semis were previously ranked in the top 15 too.

I also haven't heard of any new team busting out and turning heads.

Still want to make the case that the ranking is just an old boys network?

Sometimes things are what they are. Not what we wish them to be.

I agree Ten! making the case has ceased when certain teams had players then lost those players. Now its quiet on the western front...

Tenshun,
You are correct in saying the top finishers were ranked by you previously and your ranking is fairly accurate. I never said the teams weren't good. I am still a little skeptical of the Grapettes NW squad, I don't think you would give another team playing USSSA tournaments such respect. That being said the teams you have 1,2 & 3 are very good and should be there.

The team that gave me the most surprise and that I enjoyed watching was the Breeze99 squad. They should have turned some heads with their play in Fresno. Maybe won't be there this year, but if they stay together they will show up in your rankings next year for sure.

I did see that the CC DirtDogs98 were almost beat in their third pool game by one player. With a little help defensively it would have been a loss.

Smash98 definitely took care of things in a tough pool on Saturday and were strong all the way on Sunday. Congratulations!!

An under the radar team to watch is the Brentwood Lady Blast Foisy, with a second pitcher they could do good things.
