12U Spring/Summer Ranking

cencal wrote:There wasn't much going on this weekend. My dd was in Manteca for a USSSA event. USSSA may not mean much to posters in the NorCal forum, but it sure meant a lot to our girls. They defeated AASA for the second time in as many days, 2-1 for the tournament title, before that they handed Vacaville SunDevils a 5-0 loss earlier in the day. They also went 3-0 on Saturday, 5-1 over Cencal, 11-6 over Folsom Freedom and 1-0 over AASA.

The week before that they were in the championship game against Valley Stompers at the NSA Bilson's Father's Day Classic. Girls still talk about that one, Stompers were up 2-0, our girls score 6 runs to make it 6-2 then Stompers come back towards the end of the game to score 5 and win it. That was great game to watch.

Prior to that was the NSA Baden Sports Classic (2 weeks ago), The girls defeated Roseville Heat 99 6-2 and Grapettes-Kappmeyer 7-0 to get to the final game, only to lose to Roseville Heat 98 8-5. On the day before the girls also lost a close one to Roseville Heat 98 2-0.

May not be ASA tournaments, but our girls are enjoying the game, and no doubt the parents are too.

Also want to give a shout out to Roseville Heat, our girls were really impressed with your team when they played them. "They showed a lot of class and good sportsmanship" is what our girls said. Also not easily forgotten are the Valley Stompers, girls would like to play them again.

Nevertheless, there was some good softball to watch over the past three weekends.

Sorry about the post, seems more like praise for my dd's team (Los Banos Tigers) than contributing to the rankings. Don't know if this will affect standings for anyone.

Random comment from a SoCal 14U dad...I don't think there's anything wrong with boasting a bit about your DD and/or her team. As long as you do it with class and respect as you have here.

I like the Los Banos Tigers. They are a scrappy team. I saw them at the memorial Tourny and was really impressed by that team.

"Scrappy team" they are, always ready to compete. They seem to throw off a lot of teams because the other teams certainly don't expect our team to play and compete the way they do. Glad to know you were impressed by them.

RRGold Memorial Tourney was not too kind to us. Tied RRgold 1-1 in the 1st game and lost game 4 and 7 to the Sarah Norwood Grapettes 7-0 (both games). Lost the last one 3-1 to RR Gold, but I want to say the coaches did not take that want to seriously because we were already in the consolation bracket and it was considered a consolation final? They let all the girls play and moved some of them around for evaluation for the final game. We also played against the OBS Monarchs to whom we lost, it was a fill in game because one of the other teams did not show up to the tourney. Overall we finished 4-4-1.

LOL, I think some of the girls were overwhelmed and nervous because they knew they were playing the "Grapettes" and they knew they were very good. (Coaches probably felt the same way, but of course they won't admit it ;))

This would be a great Tourny for the Los Banos Tigers to get into. The girls they have can play with any 12U team, Esp if the girls believe it . They have a pitcher who keeps you off gaurd with her change up and the girls can hit. Dont under estimate this team because because you might get shocked. ( again )

Looks like this tourney is stacked with the who's who of the 12u division.

With so many strong teams in it, I'm really curious to see how the brackets will be matched up. One thing I can guarantee is that there will be some serious ball being played.

Also, I heard that no trophies will be handed out in this tournament. Instead, the top finishers will be awarded chest thumping and stride strutting bragging rights. :D
No courage. No game.

GameTime23, lookingIN, I would love to see our girls play in the Balls and Strikes tourney. I personally think they would do well. Well enough to get noticed by others.
From the looks of the entry list, it does look like a solid tournament for the 12U. Even if our girls went 0-3 or managed to win 1 game, I believe they would gain invaluable experience by playing those top caliber teams that are listed.

Unfortunately, our team never registered ASA this year. Next year though, I'm sure it will be ASA come January 2012 as a young 14's.

After a seasons worth of work and polishing, it is pretty exciting to see this many solid teams meeting up in one place. Some of these teams have some unfinished business to take care of and they're all looking to make a statement.

There are a number of good matchups on Saturday that are definitely worth watching.

With so many talented teams, gonna have to be consistent with the A game to run deep this Sunday.
No courage. No game.
